Houseboat summary

You will be surprised about the tranquility that our neighborhood has to offer: a true hidden gem just around the corner of Central Station and the Cruise Terminal. We warmly welcome you aboard on our cozy houseboat where you will have a private studio with separate entrance in the front of the ship. Enjoy all the comfort of a luxury hotel room, yet with the character that comes with a houseboat.

Houseboat description

Our guests particularly appreciate the location. There are many great things to - no tourist traps, but genuine interesting highlights - within walking distance. Right across the water you see the National Maritime Museum, the amazingly designed science museum Nemo and within 1 km distance you find Central Station, the free Ferry to Amsterdam North and the Cruise Terminal.

Not to mention the wonderful places to eat and drink! The famous and laid back bar-restaurant Hannekes Book (with awesome terrace) is literally one minute walking away, and around the corner there is a great cafe 'Delerium' with over 750(!) beers, also with a water front terrace. When you cross the bridge you can enjoy one of the best Chinese restaurants in town - actually also located on a houseboat! And this is just to give you an impression - there is so much to see, drink, eat and to do!

Outside you can enjoy the sun all day long. Since we are located along a dead-end street, there is not much traffic and you can sit outside comfortably. This is actually quiet unique for Amsterdam. Even just walking along our canal is a lovely experience in itself: here you will see a great variety of traditional ships that are well preserved, often over a hundred years.

And now about the studio. You have a private entrance, so privacy is guaranteed. When you enter the boat, you will experience the unique and warm atmosphere that we have created to give you a real home-away-from-home' feeling. The places has a red carpet, a comfortable double bed, a couch, a flatscreen tv, free wif, a dining table, water cooker and a small fridge. Be assured that the houseboat studio is comfortably warm all year round thanks to central heating.

Linen and towels are provided, as well as a hair dryer. Don't like to go out and fancy an afternoon cocooning? We have a nice selection of books, board games and puzzels too.

We speak English, German, French, Spanish and Dutch, so feel free to let us know if you have any questions and we will get back to you right away. Look forward to welcome you aboard on our charming houseboat!

About the area

Our area is best described as a nautical neighborhood with lots of unique vessels that are tendered by their owners. We care for our houseboats, as well for each other. You will feel at home right away, yet the 'big city' is just minutes walking away. Yes, it is a true hidden gem, right in the middle of Amsterdam.

    Warm and friendly

We had a great stay on Joanne and Ramiro's houseboat. It was an ideal base for exploring Amsterdam, close to the city centre but quiet, cosy and warm after a long day out and about sightseeing. An easy walk from central station. Joanne was welcoming, friendly and helpful, a great host. Would highly recommend!

    Gorgeous Stay!

The stay was exactly what we wanted. It was lovely and secluded for a quiet break, but easy distance for us to walk into the centre every day and to/from the train station. Very comfy bed, everything clean - very happy visitors :) thank you Joanne x

Wonderful place to stay in Amsterdam

With a very nice welcome by Joanne we started our stay at Dokstroom - she showed us the boat and told us everything we needed to know for our stay at Dokstroom and in Amsterdam. The boat is well equipped for a couple of days stay and we didn't miss a thing. You feel their love for their boat and renting it. There are some chairs and a table at the boat so you can sit and enjoy the atmosphere, including a visit of their cat or just watching the birds around. You can reach everything you need in about 10-15 minutes (probably less after construction is finished). We enjoyed our stay a lot - thanks to both of you for having us and all your help! Stay safe!

We enjoyed 5 days on Dokstroom. Joanne and Ramiro were very welcoming and helpful with all kinds of information about the area. The accommodation was comfortable and in a very tranquil location, especially after spending a few nights in the thick of the touristy area. Everything you'd need was provided. The train station, ferry, marine and science museums, grocery store, restaurants and pubs (to name a few) are an easy 5 to 15 minute walk. When in Amsterdam.... stay on a houseboat!
