Houseboat description

In 2017 we bought the wreck that was on this site. We designed a new ship to live on. By the end of 2018, all permits had been obtained.

The shipyard started construction in mid-2019.

In the spring of 2020, the boat was moved to the Panamakade. By then we had already been working on the construction site for months: on the construction of pipework and floors.

In December 2020 we moved on board, the boat was far from ready. The B&B was only able to open in March 2023, finally finished.

We’ve built a dream completely sustainable, with our own hands.

We would like to welcome you so that you as well can enjoy life on the water in Amsterdam.

How to get there

You can get to us by public transport (and a 10 minute walk). It's including the walk 19 minutes from Central Station. Otherwise you can come by car or grab a taxi ;-)

About the area

The Eastern Harbour District used to be the cargo port of Amsterdam. In the 1990's it was transformed into a city district with a lot of housing, offices, facilities, shops and restaurants. It is world famous for its urban plan and architecture.

Nowadays it is a fairly quiet neighborhood with alternating owner-occupied and rental properties. Lots of water (of course) with matching recreation in the summer.

    Great stay

The houseboat is fantastic; we had a really great time there. We loved the thoughtfulness of the design and of the whole layout of the boat. Gijs had prepared everything wonderfully, complete with cold beers in the fridge and a nice welcome notice. The location is perfect. We used the two bikes a lot; thanks for this nice extra! Unfortunately, we never met our host, but the communication was really smooth.

    Great time Show original

We spent five wonderful nights and days in a stylish, well-maintained setting in a beautiful city location. Excellent shopping and dining options are nearby. A warm welcome with small touches... (The TEXEL beer was delicious...) We'd love to come back, Elena and Uwe from Langenhagen :)

    Amazing Stay!

Although it was a short stay, my friend and I really enjoyed our time on the boat. Good location, very clean, and a great host!

    Loved our stay

Gijs was an excellent host, and the boat was warm and cosy, and the bed was so comfortable. We had everything we needed for our stay in Amsterdam, close to trams and buses, far exceeded our expectations!

    perfect stay

We spent four wonderful days on Gijs' houseboat. Everything was very modern. There was even enough coffee with milk and a few drinks to last us. We didn't need the bikes, but they were there. The interior is very modern and stylish. The boat is bright. Oh, and it doesn't wobble. :) Two supermarkets are located near tram 7. There's also a bakery and a café. If you walk a little further, you'll find a great Syrian and an Indonesian restaurant. Or you can cycle there. We'd love to come back. Rose & Ralph
