You get what you pay for

My mum, my sister and I have just returned from a 3 night trip to Amsterdam. We had such a terrific time on Blue Wave Houseboat! The attention to detail was fantastic and the boat had everything we could possibly need. The terrace was just lovely. The host was very friendly - he sat with us for 30 mins upon our arrival showing us how everything worked and gave us lots of great tips about the city as well as leaving us a welcome breakfast. I would not hesitate to recommend this boat to anyone. It is not cheap but I’m a firm believer in ‘you get what you pay for’.

    Respite on the Water

A friend and I recently stayed on the Bluewave Houseboat in Amsterdam. We couldn’t have been happier with the location, the coziness of the little home and the warmth of the hosts, Hans and Elisabeth. The added touches such as the fresh bouquet of flowers and the food in the refrigerator was much appreciated. Would stay there again!

    Superb houseboat experience

I'll keep it short and simple: what's not to love about staying with Hans? Friendly, welcoming and yet you have all the privacy you want. Actually it's a place you don't want to tell too many people about just to avoid it won't be available next time ;-) We'll be back!

    Beautiful houseboat and perfectly situated!!!

We really enjoyed our stay on the Blue Wave Houseboat.

This is a gorgeous place to stay and so close to the city. It had atmosphere and tranquility and still so close to the centre. Bike rental and luggage storage are real close.

We loved the sunny floating terrace and the beds were really comfortable. The fridge filled with goodies.... what more do you need!?!

Thanks to Hans & Elisabeth, for their hospitality and help. Great hosts!

We will be back for sure

Nice houseboat, wonderful location..., if you like to be alone within your holidays you should fix visiting times with your host

The location is great and even if the houseboat does have only 28 sqm it's well equipped and really, really nice. The city is in walking distance and the new established Foodhallen are really close.

It was a bit unexpected that we weren't alone really on the boat. It wasn't said that the second part of the boat is used by Hans wife in order to held German language lessons. Much more surprising to us was that Hans was present quite often and that he used half of the week to work on the boat and to install new electric devices .

So would be better to clearly communicate that on beforehand.

    Perfect!

Such a fabulous place to stay - a comfortable, clean, well-equipped house boat in a fantastic location, close to shops, public transport and the city center, and Hans and Elisabeth are the ideal hosts. Definitely recommended!

    Peace in the city

a very comfortable and remarkably peaceful place to stay only 20 meters from a tram junction that connects you in 10 mins with either the heart of the old city, or the Museum district. Very friendly and welcoming hosts who pointed us in the right direction for good meals and tours. Would definitely recommend, although next time we might choose a houseboat with a little more passing activity outside the window. The children, of course, love bed the novelty of a houseboat and the cabin-style smaller bedroom. Thank you!

    Nice stay

We are a family of 2 adults and 2 girls (12 & 16) and we stay during 4 nights in July. We enjoyed our stay. The houseboat is clean, in very good condition and well situated. It's easy to go anywhere downtown by walking or with trams. Many stores nearby. The surroundings are relatively quiet. Elisabeth & Hans are very kind and give us a true impression that we are welcome. Hans replenished the fridge with good food and also fruits and pastries. One very minor comment: the chairs with the quality and look from an Italian designer could be more comfortable, but again this is minor.

    Houseboat in Amsterdam

We truly enjoyed our stay on this Awarded Houseboat. Hans was a very gracious host and gave us an overview of places to see and eat. He provided us with some breakfast foods which was wonderful. The houseboat was well appointed and had every convenience we needed. It was close to the trams stations.  Enjoyed our stay would recommend to anyone and hope to come back in summer to enjoy the outside area.

    Highly Recommend!

Our visit stay on a houseboat and this was lovely, very very clean, and delightfully warm (we stayed 3 nights in January). Lovely quiet area and nice to be visited by the ducks and swans. Great communication from Hans and he arranged for a colleague to meet us at the boat on arrival. Our flight was delayed but I was able to contact them to let them know. Nothing was a problem. Would highly recommend staying in this houseboat :-)

    Super Houseboat

Hans and Elisabeth were great hosts, very welcoming and had some great tips and ideas about less busy, but great places to visit. They made it clear that we could contact them at any time if we had any questions or queries.

The accommodation was immaculately clean and had everything we needed for our six night stay.

We would highly recommend a stay in this award winning houseboat in this quiet neighborhood that has everything on its doorstep.

    Perfection!

What a tranquil oasis Bluewave is! We were fortunate enough to spend 5 nights here and we loved it! The floating terrace was our favorite place to hang out and relive the adventures of the day. The location is perfect ! We loved the Oude West neighborhood.Hans was charming and available for any questions or to help in any way. Thankyou Hans , we look forward to returning to Blue Wave the next time we are in Amsterdam!

    Very welcoming host, fantastic houseboat

We can imagine why this is a award wining houseboat: first of all the hosts are very welcoming - it was a real treat to stay with Hans and his lovely wife. The room was very tidy and the view over the water is just spectacular. Not only the geese, swans and ducks were fantastic, but also the floating garden in front of the boat is just amazing. Close to the city center, yet nice and quiet at night. Highly recommended if you're looking for a true Amsterdam experience!

No wonder they were on German TV - great houseboat

We had never stayed on a houseboat before, so we didn’t know what to expect. Amsterdam is a very bustling city, so it was nice to retreat to a quiet neighborhood after a busy day of sightseeing. There is very little canal traffic and street traffic near Blue Wave, so we were not disturbed at all. In fact, we all slept very well. The outdoor deck is very nice and relaxing. The owner is extremely kind and generous. He even texted us during our stay to see if we needed anything. I thought that was very thoughtful. Overall, the experience surpassed our expectations. No wonder they were on German TV prime time”

    Great

We had a great time in Amsterdam, the houseboat was a good place to rest. From there, we could go everywhere by foot and in the evening we could enjoy the boat with its flowers. Hans gave us good and interesting information about Amsterdam, everything was organized and clean. We can recommend it and will come back one day! Thanks a lot! Anita

Amazing stay for our family of four

I couldn't recommend this houseboat highly enough - it is in really nice part of the city that is outside of the tourist crowd but also has a lot going on. And the rest of Amsterdam is an easy walk or tram ride away.

Hans was extremely helpful. He provided some groceries that we used to make a couple breakfasts and provided helpful advice on navigating the city. Also, there was a heat wave while we were there but he set up an air-conditioning unit that kept the inside of the boat very comfortable.

The boat itself is impeccably maintained and truly felt like a home away from home. We hope to get back to Amsterdam soon and would absolutely plan to stay here again.

The real wow-factor: a floating terrace!

The Blue Wave is moored in one of these typical Amsterdam canals with these old Amsterdam houses all around. The houseboat has such a personal touch: it feels like your family home and, you have your complete privacy at the same time. But... the real wow-factor: beautiful, spacious floating terrace, decorated with charming garden furniture, surrounded by plants and reed! This houseboat gives you a unforgettable experience, living on the water, waking up with the swans at your bedroom window. For us this is superior accommodation, situated in a quiet local area, yet so close to the city centre.
