Houseboat description

We are proud to present this amazing houseboat, with a garden large enough to get lost in a very pleasant way. As soon as you enter the building, you get that good old 'outside feeling'. The houseboat, as well as the garden, are completely private and it is safe to say this is the perfect place to get away from it all. A unique place for those who want to relax, but still want to visit the great city of Amsterdam without having to travel too much. Just walk to the train station (1 km) and take the direct train that will take you to Amsterdam Central Station in exactly 10 minutes. So from the Garden of Eden within 20 minutes to the vibrant city of Amsterdam!

The houseboat has two floors. On the lower floor we have a large bedroom with both a double and a single bed separated by a wall. A second bedroom offers a further double bed. From both bedrooms you have a great view over both the garden and the lake.

On the top floor you will find the large open kitchen with all modern amenities, such as a dishwasher, stove with oven, refrigerator and freezer, luxury coffee maker and microwave. The large kitchen table is the ideal place to sit back and relax, looking back on a wonderful day in Amsterdam - or in your own garden of course. The wooden elements give a cozy and warm atmosphere, let's call it a bohemian style.

Between the kitchen and the living room there are two large glass doors that give access to the balcony. A wonderful place to enjoy the view over the lake that is home to the Amsterdam Garden of Eden. Right next to the balcony you will find the wood stove, your best friend during the colder days.

And of course there is the living room, with a large sofa to snuggle up with your loved ones or just relax in front of the large flat screen TV. All over the houseboat, there are many artworks and many plants, making you feel at home from the moment you step on board.

As you can see the garden is right huge, with lounge chairs, a parasom, a gas BBQ and a fireplace. In summer you can dive into the lake from your private garden or even from the balcony.

It is safe to say that you will not find a second houseboat that offers so many opportunities to relax and enjoy all that nature has to offer, yet is close to Amsterdam.

About the area

The surroundings of the Garden of Eden are just spectacular. The boat is located right next to a natural park with wild horses that sometimes can even be spotted right from the living room. And of course there is the famous recreational area 'Spaarnwoude'.

Houseboat owner

Dear guest,

Do you see this sunny smiling face?

That's because I'm enjoying living and working near the water and at the countryside of Amsterdam! I live next door of the houseboat that is offered for rent here. There is a possibility to pick you up from the Airport, if necessary (not included). But the train is very easy going too.
I'm sure that you will enjoy a super place like my houseboat as I do and I will do everything that is needed to make your stay comfortable.

    Canal-side Rest

We had a lovely week stat at Hans' Garden of Eden. Lovely spot, good location for training to Amsterdam and for relax outside the city. Clean and lovely welcome for us on arrival. Use of bikes, canoe and boards were great. Kids loved it! We did too. Thanks Hans.

The Amsterdam Garden of Eden is exactly that, Paradise. Its a perfect, quirky, peaceful hideaway on the water away from the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam. Its a 10 minute train ride from Amsterdam with trains running every 15 minutes then a 5/10 minutes walk to the boat house. The owner Hans who lives next door could not be more helpful and generous. We had a fully stocked fridge on arrival with croissants, jam, cheese, milk, juice and a coffee machine that made the best coffee. The boat has plenty of room, comfy beds, a well equipped kitchen, washing machine and the best surrounds with water ways and a lush tranquil garden. The only down side is the distance to nearby restaurants and local shops but with some planning you can buy what you need in Amsterdam and don't need to leave the boathouse after a busy day. There is parking if you have a car in which case there are good places to eat about 5/10 minutes drive. Finding the boathouse by car is fun but after you have done it once you will be fine! Would I go back? In a heartbeat!

A wonderful place and the name fits perfectly

We had a great time on the houseboat and Hans was a wonderful host. The communication before was fast and efficient. When we arrived we would have gotten in even if Hans hasn't been there because we had a very clear description were to find the key. The houseboat was very spacious and is surrounded by water on the one side and a beautiful garden on the other side.It is very peaceful there and one can go by bike even to Amsterdam on mostly seperate cycle paths winding through nice nature. Hans had even five bikes for us to use. We could have rowed in two rubber boats Hans gave us on the water directly from the garden but unfortunately we didn't have time to do so. Maybe next time. There was everything one needed in the kitchen, in the bathroom and in the hole house. Hans even had some wine and cookies and other food in the fridge for us when we arrived. Thank you again! We can highly recommend the houseboat except for people who can't climb steep stairs because that must be done in order to go down to the sleeping rooms. Otherwise it's a perfect place to be.
