Houseboat summary

Welcome aboard. In our floating B&B (bed and bicycle) you can experience living on the water. The two rooms, called Beach and Dune, have a lovely waterfront view, and we are glad to offer a part of our garden that you may call your own, overlooking the canal. The ferry is only 5 minutes away by bike and takes you into the heart of Amsterdam for free.

Houseboat description

Our Boat is very much appreciated by guests who want to discover the wonderful city of Amsterdam, yet enjoy the tranquility of our neighborhood. No tourist masses, but only an occasional water bird passing by. Therefore you are assured to have a great night rest during your stay.

About the bedrooms

Each bedroom has a private en-suite bathroom with a toilet, sink, and shower. You will have your own entry as well, so your privacy is ensured. The large windows let in lots of light, creating a very nice, light and bright atmosphere.

Our houseboat, a modern barge, is located on a quiet canal in Amsterdam. The swans, geese, and ducks swimming by will bring you in a good mood for sure, as well as the reflection of the water on your bedroom ceiling. It's just something that no hotel room can match.

Enjoy the garden

If you just want to take it easy, you will enjoy our garden with roofed terrace for sure. Sit back and relax in the lounge corner, go swimming or canoeing in the canal or light up a BBQ!

Breakfast

There are basic breakfast things in the pantry: coffee, tea, juice, cereals. And you can use  use the free bikes to get your own favorite bread etc. from the nearby supermarket. Have your breakfast in your room of in the lounge place in the garden. Or go to one of the breakfast places near the ferry, on your way to the city.

Bikes

4 sturdy city bikes are available for you free of charge.

Enjoy nature

ON the bikes you can get around easily. Of course, you will visit the city center, but be aware that there is lots of nature to enjoy literally around the corner. The Twiske, Waterland and the Zaanse Schans are popular destinations to enjoy the Dutch countryside. If you are traveling by car, we're pleased to say that you can park your car for free right in front of the door - quite exceptional in Amsterdam!

Couples and families welcome

We warmly welcome families up to four persons and couples traveling together. As we live on the same boat and we love to keep a good relationship with our neighbors, we want to let you know that we're not a party place. Otherwise, we love to have you aboard and share the wonderful experience of living on the water!

PS one last thing: We are non-smokers and we find it hard to accomodate heavy smokers in and around our house. So if you want to smoke a lot, please find somewhere else to stay.  Thanks for understanding!

With heavy luggage you better take the metro 2 stops and from there the bus which stops just around the corner, This takes also 20 minutes

About the area

The location is very quiet but close to the NDSM wharf There are some nice restaurants and a lot of cultural things happening. You will feel the cool atmosphere of the houseboat community, and really be part of it during your stay.

What a great place! Show original

We had a very good stay with Élise, who is welcoming and available if needed. The accommodation conforms to the photos, the outdoor space is very pleasant in the summer, with even a little heating for cooler evenings. Access to the ferry to reach the city center is 5 minutes by bike and the location is ideal for visiting the surrounding areas (Zaanse Schans, Volendam and Marken for us.) If we come back to Amsterdam, we will happily come back to Élise.

    Small, fine houseboat Show original

The houseboat had everything we needed. We were also able to use the bikes and a pedal boat. The view directly on the water was simply wonderful. The landlady Elise is very friendly. We had a fantastic weekend in Amsterdam!

cozy houseboat with small flaws Show original

All in all, we felt very comfortable at Elise's. Every wish is fulfilled immediately - as far as possible. The idyllic surroundings are great. We were only a little disappointed with the cleanliness. The outdoor areas are in dire need of renovation and urgently need to be cleaned. The rooms are spacious and perfectly fine.

Great houseboat in a paradisiacal location Show original

We loved the quiet location and great views of the canal. You can walk to the ferry in 20 minutes, which takes you to the center for free (15 minutes drive) or you can take the bus (stop 2 minutes) and the metro. Elise is a very personable hostess. She always bought enough breakfast for self-service. We were allowed to use a pedal boat at the house boat at any time free of charge. The rooms are small but fine. It is a quiet area and you can still get to the center relatively quickly. We felt very comfortable and would come back anytime!
