Happiness together

What a beautiful place, nice and quiet and yet quickly in the city. TIP: Rent bikes! You can park your bicycle anywhere in a free guarded bicycle shed in the middle of the city. Very nice couple who are ready for you. Breakfast was well arranged. Own fridge and can sit on the terrace jetty. In short, we had a great long weekend with a very nice home base. (Re) discovering Amsterdam in this way was really a party.

This year we spent our summer vacation with Roelie and Jan. Having breakfast on the jetty and swimming in the canal was great. The accommodation is in the perfect location for a free and easy ride to the city center by bike and ferry. Like all Amsterdammers, both hosts were friendly, warm and open. It was a nice vacation :)

If you want to discover Amsterdam AND enjoy some harmony and silence after the day in the city the houseboat of Roelie in the north of Amsterdam is perfect for you. You can feel the love of the owner in this houseboat - it has charme, is clean and there‘s everything you need on it. You can reach the centre of Amsterdam by foot or by bike if you use the (free) NDSM ferry. Thank you Roelie for an amazing time on your houseboat in this wonderful city!!

Wonderful days and nights spent on the houseboat. ROELIE is a nice woman who does everything for her guests. We also booked bikes from her and rode the first day to the next village. A somewhat shaky affair, I haven't ridden my bike for over 20 years. Are then driven every day by bike to the ferry. The unexpected free ride on the ferry was great. Slept wonderfully in the comfortable bed. Everything was available for breakfast and Roelie provided supplies. Microwave, egg cooker and refrigerator, everything your heart desires. In the bathroom there were towels and soap with shampoo. It was wonderful.

If you’re visiting Amsterdam and looking for a quieter area to stay this houseboat is perfect. We felt we saw more of Amsterdam because we had to catch the ferry each day to get in the centre and this was really easy to do. Roelie hired bikes out to us which was ideal, we wouldn’t do Amsterdam without biking. Roelie and Jan were attentive and helpful. The room was spotless and smelt lovely. The bed was comfortable and the room temp was good. The shower was good. It was great having the view of the water, we came in Winter but imagine it’s wonderful in Summer. The provided breakfast was really appreciated: there was meat, cheese, eggs, bread and natural yogurt. Jams, butter, sprinkles, orange juice, coffee and tea were also available. Fresh fruit would have been good, but we had no issue grabbing a selection in the city to put in the fridge during our stay. If we had to pick something to improve we’d just say to make the rolling door smoother as the bottom got jammed quite often when opening and we were concerned about it making loud noise! Other than that small detail, a perfect stay :-)
