Houseboat description

Our location
The houseboat is located in a quiet side canal of the IJ and is moored on a quiet dike with many other houseboats. On the other side of the dike lies the Wilmkebreekpolder, a unique piece of nature in the middle of Amsterdam. The free ferry NDSM-werf is a 25-minute walk or 5 minutes by bike. This takes you directly to the central station. Public transport is a 15-minute walk and in 25 minutes you are in the heart of the city.

If you want to explore the typical Dutch landscape with its vast green fields and charming waterways, our houseboat is also a perfect choice for you. It is fun to explore the small villages in the area by bike. The Zaanse Schans, a world heritage site with its iconic windmills, is also within easy reach.

Good night's sleep
Our guests appreciate our location because we are not far from the center, but do not suffer from noisy tourist crowds in our neighborhood. This ensures a wonderful night's sleep in the comfortable double bed. For hygiene reasons, we use a duvet and cover in one.
During your stay you will certainly enjoy the aquatic life like a 'local'.

Room
After returning from the city, you can either chill in your room or enjoy our garden. Through a sliding door in your room, it is also possible to sit on our floating terrace. You can also use our water bike to explore the canal In the summer months, you can swim in the canal, as many locals do. Of course, we offer all the luxury you may expect from a comfortable room: underfloor heating, fast wifi, refrigerator, kettle, coffee maker, egg cooker, television / radio and a private entrance.

We use a duvet and cover in one for hygiene reasons

Breakfast is included in the price and is served in your room in DIY (Do It Yourself) style so you can enjoy it at your own leisure.

Free parking
Yes, it is quite exceptional in Amsterdam, but parking on our dike is free!

Neighbourhood
We have a good relationship with our neighbors and would like to keep it that way. That is why we ask you to cooperate. Staying in our B&B is a party, but we are not a party location. So no loud music or discussions in our garden.

Jan just has his daily work and I, Roelie, do most of the work in the B&B. I have always worked as a beautician and pedicure, recently stopped doing that and now do the B&B.

    Considerate welcome, exceptional location, magnificent room, from the decoration (poster of the houses of Amsterdam, white duvet and very soft white ears) Impeccable cleanliness. Everything you need for breakfast (cheese, cereal bread, Greek yogurt, jams, orange juice, tea, herbal tea, Nespresso coffee, honey, chocolate granules, margarine and microwave to heat up soup!). Kindness of the hosts who picked us up at the Ferry and took us back to the Ferry. They accepted that we arrived 2 hours earlier than expected. Everything was perfect. We will return.     The room is not very big. Our large travel bags just fit next to the bed. But it is nicely furnished. From the table right next to the large sliding door you have a beautiful view of the water and the other houseboats.

    Everything was ready on a shelf and in the fridge for the next few days'breakfast: coffee pad machine, kettle, dishes for two people, cereal, bread, sausage and cheese, jam, eggs, orange juice and more. After two days, Roelie put more supplies in the fridge.

    The nearest bus stop is about a 10-minute walk away. From there we drove to the ferry dock near the NDSM shipyard or to the Amsterdam-Noord metro station to continue towards the city center. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet on the outskirts of Amsterdam and the special atmosphere by the water. A special thank you to Roelie for driving us to the ferry dock with our large luggage!     This was a very nice place to stay right on the canal with parking right outside the door! That was great. Self-made breakfast in the room too. One of the two mattresses was very saggy though and had more or less a"hole"that you sank into. With the mattresses replaced it was wonderful ☺️☺️

    We spent a delightful weekend aboard the house boats. The setting is idyllic, waking up facing the canal is incredible. The breakfast was also very good. The hosts are attentive and make every effort to have a pleasant stay.
