Houseboat summary
Beautiful private studio on a eco-friendly houseboat (from 1912) near the city center of Amsterdam. You have your own private entrance and bathroom, so total freedom. You are our only guests. We live in the front part of the houseboat.
We live in a very friendly neighborhood with lots of young families. We live on the boat ourselves and therefore our place is not suitable for partying, no drugs are allowed and we insist that our visitors respect the privacy of our neighbors and will not be noisy and loud.
Houseboat description
The studio is situated in the room where the skipper used to live with his family. You will have your own private entrance. There is a nice and comfortable double bed, a private bathroom with shower and toilet.
There is a fridge with some drinks, microwave, Nespresso machine and a water cooker with coffee and tea. The nearest supermarket is located on a 3 minutes walking distance. There is an old-school Nintendo game computer for fun!
Smoking and drugs are not allowed in the studio!
The studio can accommodate 2 adults very comfortable. It rather looks like an apartment than a room, because you have your own entrance and bathroom. Most guests end up spending much more time on board than they planned.
All kinds of delights are within walking distance. Including swimming from the boat (in summertime) and a place nearby to rent SUP boards. It's 5 minutes by bike to the trendy Amsterdam-East and 10 minutes to the city center. Trams (7 and 26) and buses (48 and 65) stop close by and walking into town is no problem.

How to get there
By car: for parking we always recommend the P+R Zeeburg. It costs €1 for 24 hours parking plus €5 for a public transport card. Max is 96 hours. In order to get the cheap fee you have to ride in after 10 am. Then you take tram 26 (with direction Central Station) and exit the first stop at Rietlandpark, then walk for 8 minutes to our houseboat. When you return to the parking, you NEED to use your public transport card to reach the P+R, at the P+R scan your public transport card at the machine and the parking fee will be lowered to €1 per day.
Parking in our street is also possible but that costs €4,5 per hour (between 9 am and 12 pm).
By public transport: from Schiphol Airport you can take the train to Amsterdam Central station. From there you take tram 26 with direction IJburg. You exit the tram at the stop Rietlandpark. From there it is a 8 minute walk to our boat. Or you can take take bus 48 towards Borneo eiland at platform C. Get off at the C. van Eesterenlaan.
About the area
Our neighborhood is called Zeeburg and is build in the old port of Amsterdam. The area is green and spacious. The east side of Amsterdam is a very nice and upcoming trendy area with a great multicultural mixture of shops, bars and restaurants.
We live in a very friendly neighborhood with lots of young families. We live on the boat ourselves and therefore our place is not suitable for partying, no drugs are allowed and we insist that our visitors respect the privacy of our neighbors and will not be noisy and loud.
Please don't forget: Duyfken is a ship surrounded by water. It is suitable for children (we have them ourselves) but we cannot take responsibility for other parents. Besides this please note that it's a ship and not suitable for disabled people and people with balance problems.
