About the area
The Loosdrechtse Plassen belong to the Gemeente Wijdemeren and are situated right in the middle of the Netherlands, between Amsterdam and Utrecht. The area consists of a series of lakes spotted with nice little uninhabited islands that are only accessible by boat. Sailing to one of those islands, staying there overnight and enjoying the pure and unadulterated nature make your holidays an unforgettable experience.
Apart from enjoying relaxing moments in silence and contemplation, the place offers a wide range of outdoor activities such as canoing, supping, wakeboarding, windsurfing, waterskiing, fishing and ice skating and has excellent trails for hiking and cycling too. There is a 25-kilometer cycle route leading you along the waterfront and past typical dike villages such as Breukelen and Loenen an de Vecht. The hospitable locals along with the huge choice of gastronomic and cultural offers, certainly contribute their part to a fulfilled holiday.
In the Vuntus, the Ster and the Zuidelijke Kievitsbuurt area nature lovers can discover an extraordinary variety of birds and flora and fauna. Therefore, The Loosdrechtse Plassen is quite rightly referred to as “Water Garden”.
All around the Loosdrechtse Plassen you find excellent restaurants and cafes with good food and the typical warm, inviting dutch atmosphere. Many of them are very close to the water or right at the water’s edge and often have a jetty to moor smaller boats like sloops etc.
The area also offers a wide variety of museums, such as Kasteel Sypesteyn where you can admire the famous collection of historical porcelain, glass and silver, have a nice stroll in its gardens and a good cup of coffee afterwards. A candle-light dinner in its attached restaurant makes your day perfect.
A visit to Boekesteyn park in the 's-Graveland area is also sure to provide life-long memories with its beautiful country residence and the beautifully designed historic park with huge ancient trees and an amazing Rhododendronpark. The park management offers guided twilight park tours on a regular basis to observe the many owls which call this park their home. And on top of it all, you are also invited to play a round of golf on its attached picturesquely situated golf course.
Last but not least there are of course cultural events you should not miss such as the 2-day Loosdrecht Jazz Festival covering Classic as well as Soul and Funky Jazz.
In a nutshell, we are happy to welcome you to this unique balanced zone where people, animals and plants coexist in harmony.

Super !Show original
We had a fantastic weekend on the little boat!
It is very quiet in the first row with a great view of the lake. This view can be particularly enjoyed through the many windows. The houseboat is clean and modern. You can find everything you need and if you have a question, the owner can be reached immediately. The surroundings are super beautiful and you can see water everywhere. Amsterdam can be reached quickly by car or train.
Perfect for a relaxing weekend! Thanks for the great time !

Perfect Start to Netherlands!
We booked the houseboat for three days as a once in a lifetime experience and it was exactly that! Our Amsterdam and Region transportation passes got us to Hilversun and a taxi got us the rest of the way to Loosdretch which is a small town made up of some delicious restaurants but no stores. Hilversun is a quick 15 minute trip with just about everything a person could need (and a station that gets you into Amsterdam). The houseboat is exactly as described, small and cozy with good use of the space. We slept on the sofa pull out bed (probably a full) due to heat and access to cuddling. We also took advantage of the night sleepover docked on an island! It was amazing!! Jan Willem set us up perfectly for viewing the sunset and there was an area we could access the water just 100 yards from where our boat was docked. Everything about the houseboat was amazing and definitely started our adventure out the right way. But the best part was Jan Willem! He is super friendly and helpful. It was like staying at your favorite uncle's place and the location gave the perfect amount of privacy.

Spent a week is absolute tranquility, even while there are neighbours on both sides. Landlord is equally charming and helpful. If the weather had been as good, it would have been 10/10. So, pick a good time. We cooked a lot, so a min-bar fridge was a challenge. But others may opt for the variety of restaurants around. As you're supposed to unwind & 'disconnect', the only way to hook onto the w.w.w. is the piggy-back onto some nearby hot spots. Or have your own data, or skip your conference calls. Oh, if you dislike spiders, make sure you go with somebody who can handle them.
