The Amsterdam Lounge Boat is located in the Amsterdam city center at just a stones throw distance from Central Station. On board of the ''Liberty'' you’ll find a peaceful and quiet accommodation.
The Prins Hendrikkade is the traditional dock where ships entered Amsterdam. The lively red light district is just around the corner, just like many other famous attractions. On the deck you have a private and sunny area where you can sit, relax, and enjoy the view of the Oosterdok.
Houseboat description
The interior breathes the rich history of this former freight ship, built in 1930. Many original details are still visible and the many portholes give both a great view over the water and a superb nautical feeling. The boat is renovated with love and many used materials, with the cradle-to-cradle principle in mind. It sure gives the ship loads of character - no hotel that can beat this experience, that's for sure!
The bedroom is located in the front of the ship. Not huge, but cozy for sure. As the bedroom is fitted in the shape of the hull, you can not stand here. Also the rest of the ship is about 1,80 high, so for tall people it might be a thing to consider. Please bare this in mind to avoid disappointment. On the other hand: you can see it as part of the traditional houseboat experience of course.
What may you expect aboard of the Liberty? First of all the entrance whith a small, yet useful kitchen. Besides the kithchen you find the shower and on the other side there is the toilet. Walk on, and you will enter the lounge area, a great place to chill out after a great day in town.
In the kitchen you will find a sink, a small fridge, coffee maker, water boiler and of course free high speed WiFi.
The owner lives on the other side of the boat, guaranteeing you full privacy, you won't probably notice him being around.
Bedding & towels will be provided. Self-catering.
The lounge is +- 180 high. It is spacious and has a light atmosphere.
Amsterdam’s airport, Schiphol is located 18km (11min) southwest of the city. The airport includes a train station – right underneath the main hall. Every 10 minutes there are trains to Amsterdam Central station.
From Amsterdam Central is a 10 minute walk to the Amsterdam Lounge Boat. From the central exit of the station go to left, walk straight and cross the street. The Amsterdam Lounge Boat is on the first doc you will see. It is right across the Hilton and the Chinese floating restaurant.
Walking upon the doc you will find the Lounge Boat at the end on your right hand side.

Because we had an early train to catch on our departure this location was ideal as it's just minutes walk even with bags in tow.
The Liberty Boat has an ideal views from the top deck and minutes to the heart of the city.
It was a pleasure to meet the owner and caretaker both were very courteous.
I would recommend the Liberty Boat if your visiting Amsterdam!
A week on the Liberty

Really enjoyed our stay on this couldn't-be-more-centrally-located old-style houseboat right across from the floating Chinese restaurant and less than 5 minutes walk from the excellent Voyagers coffeeshop. The provided bikes were invaluable though the canoes proved too adventurous for our rainy week. Excellently 420-friendly. Shower is strong, entrance to bedroom low (crouch) and although it got cold at night there are heaters under each bed. Would definitely stay again.
Loved it!

Liberty è veramente il massimo dello charme e per due personè che non hanno esigenza di cucinare è perfetto. Le altezze basse non disturbano. lo consiglio a single e coppie che amano questo genere di sistemazione.
Such a great experience

We decided to stay on a boat instead of the normal hotel and made the best decision to do so.
The boat is located centrally with good connections to the main sights of Amsterdam.

We stayed for five days as a couple on the houseboat. It is not a luxury ship but the atmosphere of the old boat, the central location and the friendly and helpful support gave us very nice days in Amsterdam.

Unique way to stay in Amsterdam

It was great staying on a houseboat in Amsterdam. The houseboat was in a great location, getting use to the smaller quarters took a little but we adjusted easily enough. The use of the deck of the boat to hang out and watch the boat traffic on the canal was great. Highly recommend. Super close to the train station.
The perfect place to explore Amsterdam from

I have been to Amsterdam a number of times and I think this was my most enjoyable. Having such a serene and beautiful spot to retreat to after the hectic city centre has changed the way I look at visiting capital cities. The boat is beautiful, rustically reclaimed with a very cosy feel. My girlfriend and I have already recommended it to friends and I'm sure we will be back.
Thank you Otis (and Hans)

We have been so lucky to be the first guests on the Liberty and we truly loved it! The location is just amazing: only a few minutes walking from Central Station, the red light district, and the great Nieuwmarkt with it's great pubs and restuarants. The boat has lots of charm and is well equipped for two persons. Don't expect high end fancy luxury, but be embraced by the character of the ship. You can feel the history. Very personal atmospere - loved it!
Interesting Stay

This houseboat is in a fantastic location if you want access to the railway station and central Amsterdam. When booking look at the photos carefully - what you see is what you get - so be sure you like what you see. We found the houseboat clean if rustic. You can make coffee/tea and there's a fridge - we didn't try to make meals but you could. The large central room was bright and cheerful - has a fan for warm weather - the bedroom has a heater. Note you can't stand up going in or when you're in the sleeping quarters - but it was comfortable. I'd stay again.
Awesome location and houseboat

The hosts were very nice, we were extremely delayed and even mixed up the days but the hosts were still very understanding and great about it. Even offered to meet us at the train station. The houseboat is super unique and vintage feeling with true port holes. It was awesome to shower by an open port hole. The bedroom was a bit stuffy but the fan they gave really helped. The host who is a girl is helping the owner who lives on the opposite side of the boat. There's a private entrance for our side and a bench on top of the boat with a cool bell to ring. The sunroom/living room is amazing, with a skylight and 4 port holes to open for a nice breeze. There were some spiders around the boat but we figure they helped to trap any bugs. The area was right in the town, 5min from train, 5 min from town center, right across the street from an awesome library and Nemo museum. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to family and friends. Hopefully next time we'all have time to use the 2 kayaks that are free to use. :)
The most amazing experience we could have ever asked for <3

The boat house is incredible! Hans is such a nice person and Otis did a really great job in arranging everything for us. Me and my boyfriend Juan had an excellent and satisfactory stay, the free bikes, canoes, and the location are also positive highlights. We 100% loved our time there in Amsterdam and we would recommend this exceptional place (=

Great place in the center, you get a unique perspective from the river level. Surprisingly quite place in the middle of tourist boat rides. Nice neighbourhood, a boat with charm and all the basics you might need.
An excellent and unique experience!

We had a short but wonderful time on the 'Liberty' lounge boat. Otis the Owner has done an amazing job transforming this 1930 cargo boat into a well designed and organized place. It is not luxurious but has everything you need. On top of that, Otis and Daphne (who is in charge of guests) are both very friendly and helpful. Although we booked the place for 2 people, we ended up being 3 which wasn't a problem with them and wasn't too crowded as well. Docked in a prime location, this stay is highly recommended!
All the best Otis & Daphne!
Lovely boat in Amsterdam - close to central station

My daughter and I had a very nice stay at the houseboat. The boat was exactly “what you see is what you get”. Very close to the train station and very close to the center but without the fuss - actually very quiet. Getting up in the morning to sit on the bench on the front of the boat drinking coffee is just perfect!
Great place to be

Otis This boat has been a big project for many years and still ongoing.
With limited resources we made an authentic place that is unique in many ways. The front half of the ship has become a lounge.
