We love to share our 2-bedroom houseboat with you for an unforgettable holiday in Amsterdam. Thanks to the large living space, this floating home is ideal for couples and friends traveling together. We also warmly welcome families on board. We are docked on a cozy houseboat community just a few minutes walking from Central Station.
When we call this boat a 'family boat', we mean this in the most literally way. Before becoming a 'house boat' this was a freight ship that transported goods all through Europe. The family of the Skipper - wife, son and daughter - lived together in a small part in the end of the ship. When growing older, the kids did not want to share one bedroom anymore and the skipper decided to rebuild the whole ship so the kids would have their own room. For the transport business they bought a new and bigger boat - with engine (what a time to be alive!). When the kids grew older they each wanted to start their own family and they decided to buy their own boat and 'El Sol' was sold to us. We warmly welcome you aboard to enjoy the result of what we have made of it.
The living room is the beating heart of the ship. Here you find two comfortable sofa beds and an open kitchen. The perfect place to have breakfast and make plans for another exciting day in the city. And to sit back and relax when you get back home.We hope that during your stay with us you will enjoy one another and the pleasures our neighborhood and our city offers. This is why we do not have televisions or radio's on board. But for the ones who can not live without (social) media, we do offer excellence fast WiFi. The only thing you have to do is bring your own mobile(smart)phone or tablet/computer with you.
The kitchen offers everything to prepare a home cooked meal. At least when you decide not to visit one of the many great restaurants and bars nearby. Many of these places have a nice and sunny terrace, such as Hannekes Boom, Pollux and Orloff. But you will have your own terrace as well: on the deck you can use the outdoor table and chairs while enjoying the panoramic views over the harbor.
The houseboat now has two separate bedrooms each with a large and comfortable double bed. In case friends want to sleep apart, you can use the comfortable sofa beds in the living room as well. Please note that we accommodate a maximum number of 4 guests and no children under 6 are allowed aboard.
In the bathroom there is a comfortable shower, sink and toilet.
Apart from the boat herself, our guests especially appreciate our neighborhood. Our harbor is located just a few minutes walking from Central Station and many points of interest can be reached easily on foot. Think of the NEMO Science Museum, the red light district, the Maritime Museum, Nieuwmarkt, Damrak, Dam Square and the free ferry to the North side of Amsterdam.
We hope to have given you a good impression of what we have to offer, but don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. Always glad to help!

About the area
Our neighborhood offers a very nice combination of a laid back atmosphere and the proximity of many great things to see and do within walking distance. We live in a real houseboat community and love you to be part of that during your stay too!
We live on boats and we love boats.

wonderful family houseboat near the station
Me, my wife and two kids (6 and 9) visited Amsterdam at the end of January and despite of the bad weather we never regretted our choice a single second. Not in the least because we could call El Sol (what's in a name) our house for these few days. We loved the atmoshphere and it was really simple to get into town. The boat is docked just minutes away from Central Station and many cool restaurants and bars are found within a few minutes walking. The harbour is very quiet at night and we loved the ambiance. I can imagine this is a great place to be in the summer too. Highly recommended if you're looking for a accommodation off the beaten tracks!

We wanted a unique boathouse experience on our trip to Amsterdam. This was an experience with goods and bad:
Good parts: Staying on a boathouse was great, having breakfasts on the deck and great sight from the windows. The location was also great, very close to Central Station. The boat was clean and had sufficient facilities like a fair living space, kitchen etc.
Bad Parts: The pictures show almost nothing about the boat. It is an old boat, as plain as it could be. Offers no luxury at all. With a little more investment, this boat could be a much better accommodation. It has 2 bedrooms but one of them is very small and has only 1 access, through the bathroom! If you are thinking to stay like 2 couples, this will be an issue. Also, you have to go through 2 other boats to reach this one, as all 3 are tied to one another; so bye-bye to privacy. Last but not the least, rules, rules, rules. Be prepared to move your trash, tidy up and clean dishes etc. before you move out.
Overall: Still a good experience but not sure if it is worth the price...
