Sailing ship summary

Welcome! Our vessel, an over a 120-years-old sailing ship, is docked in the enchanting harbor of the NDSM island in Amsterdam North. Despite its age, our ship is modern, contemporary and fully equipped to cover all your needs. The ship feels really spacious, when it just recently got renovated we had your convenience in mind all the way.

The renovation has been carried out in a sustainable manner, so you can feel comfortable switching on the floor heating while enjoying the fresh ventilation that blows through the cabins. The interior is also decorated and furnished with a green heart. All accessories are recycled finds, donated or even found on the island!

On board we have 150m2 (!) of space for up to 24 guests. Important to notice: a lot of attention has been paid to the comfort of our mattresses and pillows, which should guarantee a good night's sleep. The living area, with a lovely open kitchen, is bright and cozy. We have lots of games and toys for the children, so you can safely spend a day 'at home' and enjoy yourself. The living area is also most suitable for dancing, Italian dining at the big table or just a lazy evening of Netflixing on the large beach bench is possible, all "superb options on board"!

Sailing ship description

During the sustainable sailing ship renovation, the layout of the rooms was carefully thought through. The cabins are spacious and have a great look and feel. The 4 cabins in the rear are traditionally furnished, with two single beds and a shared shower and two separate shared toilets. Adjacent to the 4 cabins in the front you will find a private bathroom with toilet, where the edges are adorned with quotes from our local traditional hand-lettering lady Corine Snel, (on 'Lucky Starfishy'). Her art can also be found on the ship's 'donation trunk'. Small treasure maps of Lucky Starfishy are for sale here, as well as recycled treasures found in drift stores in Amsterdam North. This allows you to take home a tangible memory in exchange for a donation.

At this moment our ship is still waiting for its sails. In the meanwhile, we are well on our way of realizing our dreams to be able to offer night sailing (for the awake among us), as well as yoga retreats on the 'Wad' (area north of Holland), and adventurous sailing trips with young people who have to help stay on course.

We also see sustainable freight transport fit in our vision. But until then, we will happily rent out our dear friend to landlubbers in our own country or abroad, more than welcome on board! Families and friends who come together, a party that wants to be celebrated: the large spatial ship is suitable for everyone.

We can already sail, but with a classic engine for now. On request, the ship sails to nearby interesting places such as Muiden, Pampus or ask for the captain's secret spots! Almost anything is possible, the options are endless!

How to get there

From Amsterdam Central you board at the leftmost ferry (NDSM). During rush hours the ferry leaves every 15 minutes, outside rush hours every half an hour (45 and 15). On Friday and Saturday the ferry sails until 3 am! Cruising time is approximately 15 minutes.

About the area

"Everything you need is already there." And that does not apply to all of us, this summer of 2020. You don't have to go far to see beauty! Because even if the ship stays in its beautiful place, there is so much to experience. As soon as you disembark from the ship, you will fall in the heart of the iconic and centrally located NDSM terrain. Here it is frayed, unruly and cinematic. The ship is located on the 'Green Cape', a part of the NDSM where you can record the rawness and history of the port area with all your senses. In the 1950s, NDSM was one of the largest and most progressive shipyards in the world! And this history can still be seen everywhere.

The four immense docks on the island accommodate numerous workshops and breeding grounds. NDSM is a place for many artists, summer events and fun festivals. Progressive companies such as MTV and Greenpeace are also located in this pure part of Amsterdam. The Veronica boat is also there this summer, with open air movie nights.

With the children you can eat pancakes at the neighbor's pancake boat, or eat an ice cream at the Ice Cream Pipe around the corner, together with the countless sparrows that gather at the meeting point of the ferry. There you can rent bicycles to discover the surroundings of NDSM and the hip north of Amsterdam. Two free ferries sail directly to the NDSM wharf, which are accessible to pedestrians and (moped) cyclists. You are in the center of Amsterdam very quickly.

The authenticity of the ship and the uniquely located place where we are docked, makes it an ideal place for a wonderful urban-nature holiday.
