Welcome aboard the Dune Room on our floating B&B in the Northern part of Amsterdam. Room 'Dune' has a private entrance and an en suite bathroom, ensuring all the privacy you want during your stay. Thanks to the large window, the room is very light and bright. You will love the swans, ducks and geese passing by, the tranquility of our neighborhood, the garden and the hospitality that we offer. Breakfast is DIY style and can be enjoyed at your own time in your room or in the garden.
The houseboat is docked in a quiet and lovely canal with lots of other houseboats. The free ferry NDSM Wharf is 20 minutes on foot or 5 on a bike. It takes you straight to central Station. Public transport is around the corner and you can reach the heart of the city in 20 minutes.
If you like to explore the typical Dutch landscape with the wide green fields and charming waterways, our houseboat is the perfect pick for you too. By bike the small villages of Waterland are nice to explore. The Zaanse Schans, world heritage with the iconic windmills, is also within reach.
Great night sleep
Our guests appreciate our place for the fact that we're within easy reach of the centre, yet you won't find any loud tourist masses in our neighborhood. You will truly be a part of our community during your stay and enjoy the water life like a local. And you are assured to have a great night rest for sure. There is a comfortable double bed, that can be taken apart on request. Please inform us before your stay if you want two separate single beds so we can prepare this for you.
Private garden and swimming
After coming back from the city you can either chill out on your private room, or enjoy the garden that we offer to our guests. During the summer you can go swimming in our canal, like many locals do.
Of course we offer all the luxury that you may expect from a comfortable room: good central heating, fast wifi and a private entrance.
Our breakfast is DIY-style, served in the common hall and to be enjoyed in your own room or the garden at your own time. This is included in the price, and has a nice Dutch touch to it with cheese, meat and fresh fruit.
Yes, it is quite exceptional in Amsterdam, but we do offer free parking in our street!
We hope to have given you the best impression of our floating B&B possible, but don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. We're always glad to help!
PS one last thing: please note that we are not a party place, so no loud music, smoking of any kind or late loud discussions in our garden. We have a great relationship with our neighbors and we love to keep in that way. Thanks for understanding!

How to get there
If you arrive by car, be assured that you can park it for free at our houseboat.
If you travel by public transport, just take the free ferry that takes you from Central Station to Amsterdam North. From there you can walk to our boat in 20 minutes.
With heavy luggage you better take the metro 2 stops and from there the bus which stops just around the corner, This takes also 20 minutes
About the area
Amsterdam North is the next new thing, so to speak. Lots of culture, bars and restaurants along the shore of the IJ River (make sure to visit the NDSM wharf!), good connection with the city centre thanks to the free ferry, and not to forget the wonderful green fields and waterways nearby.
We are Richard and Elise. We like to meet people from all over the world and are happy to share our place on the water with you.

The stay in B&B de Albatros couldn't have been better! The room and facilities are very clean and decorated with love. We were warmly welcomed and felt very comfortable. The houseboat is situated in a very quiet zone. It was no problem at all that it takes a little bit to get to the city (by bike and ferry), because it just felt so good to come back to this quiet spot and to relax after discovering the busy and lively city center.

Perfect Retreat !
Our thanks to Elise for letting us stay at her beautiful home. A perfect retreat in a calm backwater close to a wonderful city center. Welcoming and clean. A real treat was the visit of swans, ducks, coots, and gulls outside our door which opens out onto the water. A delight. Beautiful ambient garden, peace, and calm. I would love to return something. Thanks, Elise!

A Great Find!
This little gem turned out to be the highlight of our European Trip! Elise is easy-going, informative, flexible and a delight. Her accommodations are as described with so much more. We arrived in the dark, slept soundly because her houseboat and the canal it is on is completely quiet and woke to an amazing view. The front French doors open directly onto the water of the canal where you can eat at her little table while hanging your feet over the side! Everything is compact and well laid out, including a couple of suggested bike rides to the surrounding sights. Do Them! Breakfast is stocked in the little kitchen daily and is serve yourself which worked perfectly-we could sleep in or eat early without worry. We had the best adventure taking her canoe down the canal toward the river and having lunch at a great spot. The free ferry is an easy and safe walking distance away and it was wonderful to leave the hustle and bustle of majestic Amsterdam and head to our calm and relaxing mecca in the north. It felt like the best of both worlds! At night we cozied up at a sweet fire pit right on her little beach and drank the wine she has by the bottle which was very good. Her yard is whimsical and fun, and don't forget your suits-you really can swim in her canal! We also took the train to the airport-it was easy, cheap and a great way to travel. We'll be back to this lovely spot!

We had a very nice stay at this pretty house boat. Even the weather was acceptable. We enjoyed the breakfast with the swans and the ride with the bikes to the Johan-Cruyff-Arena. It was a very good decision to stay at a quit place over the night after joining the crowded city at daylight.
