Romantic self-contained studio, 20 car-minutes from Amsterdam. Local transport by train and bus.

Situated in the rural outskirts of Amsterdam this unique Riverside Studio allows you to experience the best of both worlds. Spend the day in the bustling capital Amsterdam, and come home to the tranquillity of the wide open polders, with iconic farms, windmills, geese, herons and storks.
Or add one or two nights to your city stay to come and relax and see the beautiful historical 'summer houses' (mansions!!) that were built along the river Vecht by the wealthy 17th century Amsterdam merchants who considered it their back garden!
Upon entering your Riverside Studio, you literally leave the world behind and step into the placid rhythms of river life. Swans, geese, moorhens, jumping fish, storks, herons, ducks, of course, and many other river dwelling creatures rapidly become your new neighbours.
From May to August we share the river with small pleasure craft and day trippers, that make for a colourful summer pageant. But for the rest of the year, the river is ours. We're located on the riverbend between the picturesque historical village of Vreeland and the more practical village of Nederhorst den Berg. This offers sweeping river views south, east and west!
Located 20 minutes by car from Amsterdam, 30 minutes from Utrecht. Free parking directly in front on the houseboat. The Riverside Studio can also be reached by public transport by taking a bus from our village to the town of Weesp, and then a train to Amsterdam (45 minutes). The bus does not run on Sundays or holidays. Use the NS journey planner to be found on the NS website, to make your own assessment of distances. (Local bus stop: Nederhorst den Berg - Overmeer)
This 21sqm self contained studio apartment has its own entrance, kitchenette, bathroom, and outside terrace. There is proper sound isolation between the Riverside Studio and the Captain's Quarters to ensure total privacy. Your section of the outside terrace, includes a table, 2 chairs and a deliciously comfortable hammock.
The high ceiling and the sliding door to your private terrace, as well as a large side window that gives you a unique 'breakfast in bed' view of the river, make the studio feel spacious and light. Imagine waking up to gentle birdsong and watching the gentle river flow by, right at your feet.
The smart studio has been cleverly designed with the popular tiny houses concept in mind. Everything folds, in, out or up, and the kitchenette is neatly tucked away in a cupboard. This allows you to make optimal use of the space. And you can leave your slippers at home, because there is floor heating throughout.
The kitchenette is equipped with a microwave and two electric cooking rings. The fridge is big enough for a three-day food shop.
EXTRA: I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist. So feel free to enquire about booking some counselling or creative coaching sessions during your stay. Residents of the studio enjoy a 10% discount on regular counselling fees.

How to get there
The houseboat is located about fifteen minutes by taxi from Weesp and/or Hilversum railway stations. Bus 106 has an hourly service from both stations to Nederhorst den Berg, with the local bus stop about 5 minutes away.
Access by car from the A2 motorway (exit Vinkeveen), or the A1 motorway (exit Weesp), or the A27 (exit Hilversum). From each exit a final 15-20 minute drive through the beautiful watery polder landscape.
The owner's car is registered with Snappcar and can be booked through them. Ask owner for details.
I'm a global nomad that finally found my feet right back where I started, in the watery wetlands of my birth. Coming 'home' to the water has been deeply rewarding, fulfilling a childhood dream of becoming a water dweller. Right from the start, I wanted to create a professional space on the houseboat that enables others to share this unique experience. I designed the Riverside Studio myself, optimising the space using all the clever concepts from the Tiny Houses movement. Since 2018 it has been offering people a small slice of their own paradise here on the water. I even road tested it myself for three months while the rest of the houseboat was renovated. I speak fluent English, Swedish and Dutch, and can get by well enough in spoken French. Welcome!!!

Very nice weekend on a houseboat
We had 3 very nice days on the Riverside studio. The houseboat is very nice and is very well equipped. The view from the terrace is amazing. The houseboat is also very well located in a quiet neighborhood, but no to far from Amsterdam, if you like to spend a day there as well. Lysanne is very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed!

Wonderful houseboat experience with Lysanne
A big thank you to Lysanne for the wonderful times I have had with her on the houseboat close to Amsterdam. If, like me, you spend your life in the hectic madness of a big city and you occasionally need to get away and centre yourself, then Lysanne's houseboat is a hidden secret you need to know about. I love being so close to and at the same level as the water and the nature that floats by on it. Being on the canal brings you face to face with ducks, swans, cormorants and other water birds and there is something very special about the soft noise of the water lapping the sides of the houseboat. Part of the magic is waking up and looking right across the canal to a horizon of reeds and low fields broken up by beautiful willows. Breakfast, in fact any meal, on the deck is pretty special as well. If you want to think things through and take a step back to examine things that count then the surroundings could not be better. Basically, it is one of those places that does stay with you when you leave - the quiet and the peace stay with you - even back in the madness of London.

Stayed in the boathouse for three days and it's a gorgeous little place. Very quiet and beautiful area around the boathouse. The place is small but has everything you would need. A bit far from the city so a car is a must
Lysanne was very helpful and mindful.
I recommended to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing weekend.
