Skinny Bridge Studio
Your private cozy studio with a lovely view on the Skinny Bridge from the porthole!
- Cozy and romantic studio, perfect for couples
- Top-notch location next to the Skinny Bridge
- Close to countless restaurants and bars
- Within walking distance of main attractions
- Charming roof terrace
We feel privileged to live on one of the most photographed locations on the planet, yet enjoy the peaceful tranquility that comes with living on the water. And we love to share this very inspiring experience with you by renting out a lovely cozy studio in the front part of our houseboat in Amsterdam, right next to the famous Skinny Bridge and with a charming petite roof terrace. Perfect for couples who want to create everlasting memories!
Our houseboat is a traditional freight ship, built in 1931 and now transformed into a most charming floating home. The studio is located in the front of the ship and has a private entrance, ensuring all the privacy you want.
The place, not huge but charming for sure, has a romantic bedroom with a large comfortable double bed. From here you can see the Skinny Bridge in all her beauty from your bed through the porthole, putting a smile on your face for sure.
Next to the bedroom you will find the rain shower, toilet, the sink (under a roof window) and a small coffee bar to sit back and relax for breakfast and a fresh Nespresso coffee.
Not only is our location on the Amstel (the river that our city is named after) one of the most photogenic locations in town, it is also right in the middle of countless great things to do. At just a stone's throw distance there are dozens of bars, restaurants and boutique shops. And not to forget various great museums (Hermitage, The Rembrand House, Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum etc), the Artis city zoo and so much more places of interest. And when sitting on the terrace, you will really enjoy the city and water life passing by. You will be staying in the middle of it all!
When renovating our houseboat studio in 2017, we kept in mind that in the middle of of the city of Amsterdam it is important to have a quiet hide-out. We offer a Nespresso machine, water boiler and a fridge for your convenience, but note that there is no kitchen. However, with so much restaurants and bars around, there really is no need to cook yourself. We are sure you have so much better things to do during your stay!
Note that we live on the same ship, but have an own entrance. However, we will therefore be around most of the time to help or answer if you might have any question.
A fun fact is our boat is self-supporting thanks to solar panels and a pellet heater to heat water and our central heating (the boat is comfortably warm all through the year, even on the coldest days). Being self-supporting we can sail the ship and still use the facilities. Be assured that we will not sail the ship during your stay, so it will always be there when you get back from another great day in town ;-)
Look forward to welcome you aboard so much!

Skinny Bridge Studio review March 2018
It was everything I expected it to be. Near the tram and metro station, Jorden informed us about where to buy food and where to go out for a lunch/dinner and you should really listen to him! We were staying during pretty cold few days in March but inside it was very warm and cosy. They also provide some extra blankets. We had a great time and would/will do it again !!!

we had a lovely stay in the boathouse. It was easy to find, instructions to get into the boat were easy, it was clean and quiet. Good location. Can't complain. Thanks for having us stay!

Absolutely WONDERFUL houseboat in Amsterdam city centre!
Lieza's place was absolutely WONDERFUL! It was in the exact location that we wanted, and wonderful to stay in. We had to check in early, and they were great about accommodating us. The same goes for when we needed more toiletries, had questions, etc. The comfort of the boat and the location were part of a fantastic trip.

One comfortable week on the boat
We spent almost a whole week in Amsterdam and enjoyed the stay on the boat very much. When we arrived at the boat, it rained heavily and Jorden was already waiting for us to provide us with umbrellas if we didn't have any and we could leave our luggage on board, although the rooms were not yet ready for our visit. Thank you again. We had a bedroom and a second room with a wall table, which we used for breakfast and coffee drinking, additionally a small cabin (I hope this is the right word) for a shower and a toilet. We didn't need more for this week, we were able to accommodate our luggage well. Everything was clean and warm. The tips and information from Jorden were very helpful. The location is also great to start to explore Amsterdam by public transport or by bike. All in all, it was a great place to stay.

Skinny Bridge rental - avoid in warm to hot weather
We stayed here for three nights 4th Aug to 7th Aug.
Due to hot weather and lack of ventilation this houseboat was uninhabitable. We had to be out before 8am as the temperature was building up as soon as the sun was on the steel hull and superstructure. Could not return until sunset when we opened the hatch and tried to get it cool enough to sleep. Would sit on the deck and then try to sleep with the hatch wide open so a small trickle of air could enter through the mentioned porthole which was the only opening air source. Sleep usually became possible after midnight.
Last night it rained and water came down the companionway soaking my luggage. Had to close the hatch until about 3am.
Okay so 2 positives
Location is superb and this area is where we will base ourselves if we come back.
Shower was one of the better ones we had in our four week tour of Europe and Britian.Response from the host: Dear David, Thanks for your feed-back. We always try to improve our service on board, but this is one we could not help. Amsterdam suffered under a heatwave of 35 degrees when you were here. I remember when you arrived I walked with you to the park behind the Hermitage museum telling you that we have never had to deal with this situations before, and Amsterdam suffered the hottest and dryest summer ever since we started measuring the average temperatures a 100 years ago. A week before you came I try to buy a fan, but they were all sold out, because the heat lasted already a few weeks. I found one in my boatceller that you used, because that was the best I could do. Despite all efforts to cool it down, we are going to discuss/organise better airconditioning in the boat because this kind of summers will happen more and more in the future/global heating. Also we consider to paint the boat white on the sunny parts, to reflect the sun and keep the boat cooler. For now, I just regret that the heat spoiled a part of your hollyday, and if you come back to Amsterdam, please contact us again. We want to make it up to you! Greetings Rob, Jorden and Lieza.
