Enter this spacious and private apartment on our traditional freight ship - built in 1914 - on the Eastern Docks and indulge yourself in a world of nautical luxury. The perfect place to relax after another great day in the buzzing city of Amsterdam. Utilized with a bathtub, floor heating, huge flat screen tv and a kitchen in case you don't want to eat out. Not to mention the wonderful surroundings of this houseboat, with astonishing architecture, wide water views and many lovely restaurants at walking distance. This is Amsterdam like you have never seen before.
We have just renovated this apartment and we hope you like the result. The high ceilings will give you a feeling that you cannot experience in many other houseboats. The windows above the gangway provide great light into the approximately 30 sqm room, while the two portholes give a view directly on the water. Don't be surprised to be welcomed by a swan or duck - to name just a few of the many friendly animals swimming here.
The sleeping area is fitted with a comfortable queen sized bed (which can be put apart so you have two single beds if you prefer) and luxury linen. During summer the boat is actually quite cool, and the fan on the ceiling will bring a nice breeze if required. During the colder months you will be nice and warm thanks to the comfortable floor heating.
Centered in the middle of the apartment you will find a small, yet fully equipped kitchen with two burners, a large fridge, a dishwasher, a quooker tap, a coffee maker and all the basics you need to do some cooking.
The living room
The living room has a comfortable couch that can be used as a sleeping couch in case of need. The far end of the living room shows the coolest eye catcher you can imagine: the original heavy steel door that lead to the original forecastle of the ship. What a place to relax after a great day in Amsterdam, have a good glass of wine or just watch some tv.
The bathroom is something we really find important. Therefore we have chosen to place a (whirlpool) bathtub shower combo. Of course there is a sink, toilet and boards to place your toiletries. This room is also nice and bright.
The houseboat is completely private, so you don't have to share any space with other people. We live on the same boat and use the same entrance, but thanks to great insulation you will most likely not even notice other people living on the boat. We get asked a lot if you get sea sick while staying on the boat. We have never heard of someone gotten seasick, however, it is a boat of course and in case of heavy winds the boat will move a bit and you might hear the wind blowing (we provide ear plugs, just in case). This is part of the houseboat experience, and we're pretty sure you will truly love it!
