Docked only a few minutes from Amsterdam Central Station, newly renovated and designed under architecture: that's the Tulip of Amsterdam in a nut shell. You will be sleeping in the hull of a historical freight ship, in a bed that is basically a throne. The houseboat studio offers lots of space and light getting in via the many stylish portholes, creating a very bright atmosphere. And the location could not be better: close to the buzzing city centre, yet you are assured to enjoy a good night rest since our harbor is peaceful and away from the tourist masses.
The Tulip of Amsterdam is so much more than just a place to stay. We want to share with you the experience of being part of a houseboat community. Our harbor is a wonderful melting pot of people who enjoy living on the water, each in their own way. Just like all the people are unique, also the ships and barges docked here have their own character. The atmosphere that we have created aboard the houseboat studio that you may call your own is stylish, contemporary and private. You have the whole place to yourself, so no need to share anything.
What you may expect aboard the houseboat apartment
Descend from the deck of our ship and enter an unexpected world of space and brightness. The various roof windows and portholes in the studio enable a cheerful play of light and shades dancing through the studio.
The high end double bed (200x160 cm) is located in the front of the hull, and although beneath water level this is probably the most elevating place you and your beloved one ever slept.
In the living room there is a 2-seater table to enjoy breakfast while making plans for a new day in town. The kitchenette offers a micro-wave, freezer, toaster and coffeemaker and water cooker. There are no real cooking facilities, but with so much wonderful restaurants and bars around we imagine you don't want to think about cooking yourself at all.
The bathroom offers everything you need during a well deserved houseboat holiday in Amsterdam: shower, toilet and sink with lighted mirror, as well as a hair dryer.
Be assured that the apartment is very well insulated and equipped with comfortable floor heating so you will be nice and warm even on the coldest winter days.
Furthermore the whole place offers enough wall- and USB sockets, so you won't have any issues charging your electrical devices.
The apartment is located in the front of the ship and offers all the privacy you want. Although I live on another part of the ship, you most likely won't even notice that I'm there at all.
Please keep in mind that kids below 6 years old are not allowed.
We're glad to say that you can use the communal seats next to the boat to relax, as well as the love seat on the front deck of the ship. Please note that people live here, so we kindly ask not to be out here after 22.00 to ensure everyone getting a good night rest. We highly recommend to check out café Pollux across the street if you want to stay out longer ;-)
Although our harbor is nice and quiet, you will be in the middle of the city life within a minute walking. We hope that during your stay with us you will enjoy one another and the pleasures our neighborhood and our city offers. This is why we do not have televisions or radio's on board. But for the ones who can not live without (social) media, we do offer excellence fast WiFi. The only thing you have to do is bring your own mobile(smart)phone or tablet/computer with you.
Across the street you find one of the many great bars around: Café Pollux, laid back place to have a drink or simple meal. Walk on and you will find many other places to eat, with cuisines basically from every corner of the world. In the immediate neighborhood you will find the buzzing Zeedijk and red light district, as well as the Maritime and Science museums. Get inspired on the daily market Nieuwmarkt and find cool stuff on the Waterloo Square (Waterlooplein). Walk the other way and you will enjoy the amazing views over the IJ-River, and when the sun is shining make sure to visit the terrace of bar Hannekes Boom!
Well, I hope to have given the best possible impression possible, but don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions -always glad to help. Look forward welcoming you aboard!

This houseboat is probably the nicest way to stay in Amsterdam. Close to the city-center and central station and so quiet at the same time. Warm and friendly owner and host. Everything was perfect. We hope to come back soon. ♥

Classy and comfy houseboat in Amsterdam city centre
Three days of pleasure in Amsterdam, given a silver lining by our stay on the Tulip of Amsterdam. The houseboat is located near central station, in a cozy community of houseboats. Friendly people, very nicely decorated houseboat apartment and a wonderful location. Perfect stay!

Most brilliant stay ever
Our visit to Amsterdam was given a silver lining thanks to the Tulipe houseboat. I took my husband to this wonderful city to celebrate our 5-year marriage and could not have selected a better place to stay. The place is decorated very stylish and the many windows let in lots of light. We felt a bit like John Lennon and Yoko Ono during our stay since we just did not want to leave the bed haha. Once you get off the boat you will feel like a real local, living the dream in this characteristic harbor. About the location: just perfect too with a wide variety of bars and restaurants around the corner basically. If you want to cook at home, this is not your place since there is no kitchen, but who wants to cook when in Amsterdam? Thanks for having us and hopefully we'll meet again some day!
