Houseboat summary

The houseboat (90 sq.m.) is an old cargo ship from 1922, rebuild into a modern apartment with a lot of character and located in an historic quiet area with modern architecture. The two terraces and the wheelhouse are wonderful places to relax while absorbing the surroundings. The big open water gives you a magnificent view: imagine having breakfast on your own outsite private terrace overlooking the KNSM-island and all the water activities! And when you like swimming: just jump in the water, there is one big pool in front of you.

Staying here is a unique opportunity to experience living on the water in an authentic ship. Local people who visit always tell us they get a holiday-feeling on board. We hope you will experience the same and have a wonderful time!

Houseboat description

Our ship is situated in the industrial en modern Eastern Docklands with an own and quiet atmosphere, close to the center (15 minutes). Moored in big open water with a lot of trees in between the ship and street.

You can choose to sit on the terrace up front, having two chairs and a place for our hammock. Here you can watch the locals swim and look at the boats go by. Or you can sit on the jetty with a picnic table that sits six. We share this jetty with our neighbors, as they enter their ship trough it as well.

Layout ship
The large living room has a semi-attached open, fully equiped kitchen with a lot of workspace. The master bedroom is in the back of the ship, the other sleeping room is in the front. In this room you can snooze on the bed/couch or in the hammock while watching the water and KNSM-island through the big portholes. The bathroom, completely made out of polyester is half way the stairs. And last but not least the wheelhouse, this is where you enter the ship and have an 360 degrees view.

Nextdoor: shops, restaurants and public transport
The nearby shops and restaurants are, just as the public transport, a two minute stroll. One of them a very good deli/caterer with delicious meals to take home. And there are many more shops and restaurants in de neighborhood. We are more than willing to give you some tips on arrival.

Please keep in mind
- Check in time 3 PM, check out time 11 AM.

Some important (boat) rules we ask you to keep in mind:
- The waterpump that transports dirt water to the shore can't handle anything else than toilet paper. Nothing else can be thrown in the toilet (or sink), as it will damage the pump.
- Look where the wind comes from, only open the windows opposite the wind direction to avoid rain coming in.
- Strict rule: no drugs, no parties and we kindly ask you to respect the neighbors.
- Smoking is allowed outside.
- The ship is suitable for children who can swim.
- We rent our ship to people of 25 years or older.

Public transport
Just cross the street to take tram 10 or bus 48. Tram 10 brings you to the city center within 14 minutes. Bus 48 brings you within 15 minutes to the Central Station for which tram 26 is an other option in 8 minutes.
With the 'Oostveer' ferry (free of charge, at 6 minute walking distance) you can cross the IJ to the north of Amsterdam where you find several good restaurants overlooking the IJ or enjoy the beautiful nature of 'Waterland'.

Why Amsterdam East is great
Text from goamsterdam:"While the pedestrian traffic pulses southward from Amsterdam Central Station, toward the urban bustle of Dam Square and environs, visitors who head east from the station find themselves in a less crowded, but just as splendid corner of Amsterdam. The Eastern Docklands spreads out over several interconnected islands of various shapes and sizes. Here, marvelous architecture - from the handsome 19th-century Lloyd Hotel to the futuristic ARCAM (Architecture Center Amsterdam) - harbors top attractions, fine restaurants, deluxe accommodations and more in this nook of the city."

We wish you a wonderful stay and are looking forward to meet you!
