Houseboat summary

Hi I'm Diane; Akai-Sango is an 80 years old 24m tuck boat that my family and I have been restoring for the past 30 years. It has an iron hand made hull and the rest of the structure has been hand made by our family and other professionals that have been working with us during our life long trip around the Mediterranean. It is a magical place that has been filled up with our dreams and travels and I can guarantee that once you've stepped on it you won't forget it.

It is now permanently moored in Port Forum Barcelona since 2010.

Houseboat description

The boat is quiet big which makes it stable and comfortable. It is ideal to share quality time with family and friends because its been built for it.

The kitchen is open to the living room so the chef can cook and chat with everyone. It has a broad outside area with a big table in the shade and a roof top, perfect for sunbathing and contemplating the horizon.

The boat has been built by and for our family which means it is very cosy and comfortable.

The master cabin is the captains cabin; it is the biggest and most comfortable of all. It is at the back of the boat separated from the rest which makes it quiet and independent. It also has a beautiful private bathroom decorated with Italian marble and has a bath tub. I would recommend it for a couple.

The second cabin is a single cabin. It's small but comfortable and the brightest of all. It also has a private sink and a little desk.

The third cabin is a double cabin with a big bed and a desk. It is right in front of the shared bathroom/toilet of the boat. We've entirely renovated it this year.

The fourth cabin is the kids cabin. It has to beds and a nice space to chill and play. It is the place were me and my siblings grew up and did homeschooling. I highly recommend it for kid. It has space for a baby's bed if needed.

How to get there

If you are coming from the airport by taxi it will cost you around 35 euros for a 25 min ride.

If you plan to rent a car you will have to drive through the "Ronda litoral" and take the "Sortida 25" (I will give you more information before your arrival).

If you come by bus it will cost you around 5 euros and you'll have to get out at Plaza Catalunya and then take a metro (4 till "El Maresme Forum").

In any case we will meet at the entrance of the harbour and I will walk you to the boat so I can show you a around.

About the area

The harbour lies on the border of Barcelona which makes it much more quiet than the more central areas. But at the same time you'll be able to reach the center within a 30 min ride by metro or bicycle.

There is an amazing beach (10 min from the boat) where only locals go. The whole area is broad and suited for any kind of sports (jet-ski, paddling, running, cycling, swimming). You surely will enjoy the modern architecture that characterizes the area and will be able to reach the Rambla following the 5 beautiful beaches that lead to it.

On the harbour you will find a Decathlon, a supermarket and a jet-ski rental. There is also an amazing seafood restaurant and a very good Pakistani restaurant and a few bars. You also have a big mall 15 min from the boat.

Houseboat owner

Diane

My name is Diane, I am 31 years old and I'm half french, half Spanish. I spent the 18 first years of my life on this boat travelling and I have kept on doing it after that.
I came back from the island of St Martin (Caribean) where I was living and working on boats right after hurricane Irma destroyed the island.

We then decided, with my family, that we wanted to prepare the boat for renting and here we are, finally ready and so excited by this adventure. I will be staying on board in a little cabin that's at the back of the boat and will be available whenever its needed.
