Houseboat description
A weekend away or holiday in your own country. More and more people are discovering that the Netherlands has a lot to offer in that area. The Brabant capital Den Bosch, with its rich history and Burgundian life, is invariably one of the top 10 most popular cities for a day trip or city trip. And now a visit to the city is even more fun. You can now go there for a very special overnight stay: on a boat, a classic IJsselmeer cutter to be precise.
The cutter is located at an A location in the heart of the city, but can also be moored at other locations. Join us for a day boating or make it a complete boating holiday and experience the endless freedom of life on the water.
The authentic 1948 cutter of the first generation of Dutch motorized cutters. This sturdy seafarer used to defy the Zuiderzee and the Ketelmeer for mussel and eel fishing and later served as a deep-sea fishing boat. It is robust and rough on the outside and the old-fashioned sailing technology makes every sea longing back to the past: you can feel the vibrating of the heavy engine and hear the growling sound with which it moves the more than 35,000 kg ship steadily through the water.
Welcome on board on behalf of Captain Pronk! You enter the ship at the front via a safe footbridge jetty. The ship was professionally renovated in 2020 and decorated in an authentic, maritime atmosphere. The result is a cozy cabin with a fully equipped kitchen and bedroom (with a double length bed!), Which is fully equipped.
Let us drop anchor for you. De Kotter is located on the Brede Haven , in the middle of the Burgundian center of 's-Hertogenbosch. The cutter can be moored at any other location on request. Think of the Tramkade, the industrial and trendy hotspot of the city, where we also have a permanent berth . A combination of both berths, or a tour of various beautiful places or areas in the region are also possible. Consider, for example, a few days 'back to nature' in the Biesbosch (also surprisingly beautiful in autumn / winter) or city hopping along some of Brabant's attractive fortified cities such as Heusden and Dordrecht. Also delicious: a day sailing with Kapitein Pronk followed by a 'moonlight dinner' on the Ertveltplas. Sailing yourself is unfortunately not responsible, but Captain Pronk takes you with pleasure and pride to all the beautiful places he knows for the ultimate experience of a holiday on the water.
Water sports enthusiasts with a penchant for classic ships know: comfort and a classic cutter is not a credible combination. At least not if you want to experience the authentic experience of sailing and staying on a cutter. The charm of staying in this cutter is certainly also: occasionally bumping your head because sometimes you forget how low the ceiling is in some places; climb up the deck via the steep steps to find out just in time that the deck can be wet and therefore slippery; in the middle of the night, climb over the outside deck with a flashlight to the slender bathroom with shower on the roof (aft deck) because you really have to go to the toilet; trying to clamber into bed again without waking your sweetheart; fall asleep to the soothing sound of the soft blow of the water against the ship. And don't forget: wake up in complete freedom, the cosiness of one of the finest inland harbors in the Netherlands, enjoy the sun on the lovely outside deck, retreat to the salvaged cabin for a board game or a good book by the stove and together enjoy a snack and drink that you can order in the nearby restaurants or prepare yourself on board.
We can also fulfill other special wishes, such as a tour around Den Bosch. Think of a more extensive cruise such as a tour of Den Bosch-Biesbosch-Dordrecht-Gorinchem-Den Bosch or Den Bosch-Woudrichem-Biesbosch-Heusden-Den Bosch. Send us a message via the button below and we will gladly think along with you.

About the area
Den Bosch is a city where you will not be bored for a moment. Good food, shopping or drinks. You can climb our Sint-Jan, visit a museum or explore the city during one of the many city walks. Or you can get to know the city from the water during a cruise on the special Binnendieze. It is not without reason that they sometimes call Den Bosch the Venice of the Netherlands. Almost anything is possible.
Den Bosch is also a perfect base for exploring Brabant's nature and culture or for a day trip to an amusement park or zoo. Some tips on a maximum of half an hour's drive:
- Efteling
- Beekse Bergen
- The Loonse and Drunense Duinen
- The Biesbosch
- Fortified town of Heusden
- The Vincent van GoghHuis
