A floating home in Florida: a paradise on the water

Welcome in the Sunshine State! Florida is very popular among tourists, and not without a reason. If there’s one state that’s perfect to enjoy sunny weather, nature and adventure, then it would definitely be Florida. Many people from other American states or other colder regions go there to enjoy the nice and warm climate. But have you ever thought about adding a little extra adventure to your trip by staying in a houseboat?

There are many floating homes in Florida. Much of them can be found in the Florida Keys. The St Johns River is also home to multiple marinas that offer houseboat rentals. Most Florida houseboats are located in the more quiet regions, outside the cities. Unlike houseboats in cities, like Amsterdam and Paris, many of those houseboats can be used to cruise around in the area.

To do and visit in Florida

A houseboat holiday in Florida offers a wide variety of activities. Examples are snorkling, kayaking, dolphin-watching, fishing, jet-skiing and scuba diving. Or rent a bike and discover the beautiful nature in this state. Be sure not to forget to visit the Everglades. Watch alligators from a boat as you cruise through this National Park.

By far the biggest city in Florida is Miami. The city is known for its beaches and night life, which you should definitely visit. Another big city is Orlando, known for its theme parks, for example Disney World or the Universal Studios. Other cities you might want to visit are Tampa and Jacksonville, in both of which you will find malls, zoos, museums and parks.

A Florida Keys houseboat for ultimate relaxation

The most southern part of Florida consists of the Florida Keys. The Keys stretch over 120 miles and are connected with the mainland by the Overseas Highway, that connects all the main islands to each other. Once you leave the mainland, island mode will be switched on, and you’ll experience a tranquil, laid back mood. Here you can enjoy life on the terrace of a floating home and experience what true pleasure feels like.

Important note: there are only few beaches on the Florida Keys. You will find most beaches on the mainland.
