Houseboat description

Welcome Aboard Stunning Dutch barge on Cotswold Canal!

Get ready for an unforgettable getaway on the Stunning Dutch barge on Cotswold Canal, a charming 110-year-old Dutch barge! Nestled along the serene Gloucester to Sharpness Canal, this beauty offers a cosy and unique experience. Whether you're into peaceful mornings by the water or adventurous afternoons exploring the area, this barge has got you covered!

The barge is designed to be completely off-grid (but we do have shore power as backup), and the systems run themselves, so you can enjoy an effortless stay.

The barge is located on the beautiful Gloucester to Sharpness Canal, close to the banks of the river Severn. Come and enjoy the birdsong, dark nights, romantic walks, and wind down with a bath and log fire.

Spacious & Stylish Living

You won't believe how spacious it feels inside! The barge is designed with love and attention to detail, making it feel like a home away from home. We often hear it is bigger than people expected. So yes, that is a full-size piano in the photos!

We made everything you can see (and can't) on the boat. The kitchen and dining table are made from a single tree I myself felled and milled. And what we didn't make, we often found second-hand and restored - like the brass taps, ships' lights, and oak floors.

Plus, the views of the canal are simply breathtaking!

Perfect for Relaxation

Picture this: you, a cosy log fire, and a warm bath after a day of exploring. Sounds dreamy, right? The barge is perfect for winding down and soaking in the tranquillity of nature. Enjoy the soothing birdsongs and the beauty of dark nights filled with stars.

Outdoor Fun Awaits

Don't forget to take advantage of the outdoor spaces! You can lounge in the garden, soak up the sun on the deck, or even take the rowing boat out for a little adventure. It's all about enjoying the great outdoors while having fun!

Bring Your Furry Friends!

We know how important it is to have your pets with you, and that's why furry friends are more than welcome aboard! Enjoy your holiday without leaving your beloved companions behind. They’ll love the new sights and sounds just as much as you!

We built our barge as our home. It took two years to rescue it from the scrap yard and bring it to the condition you find it today. Hopefully it's craftsmanship is what you will love but we do ask it be cared for like a home rather than a generic BnB. The boat has oak floors throughout so please remove shoes on entry and always use a bathmat when showering or having a bath. Windows must be tightly closed when leaving the boat or if it is raining, as rain can enter and damage the floors. The kitchen worktops and dinning table are handmade from a single tree I myself felled and can be easily damaged by knives or crockery. Chopping boards and coasters must be used at all times please. Absolutely no open flames. Tea lights inside jars is fine but no tall candles on the boat. No smoking is permitted inside the boat. The rowing boat may be used but must be secured in its original place after use. Dogs are permitted but the boat is not suitable for cats. Please towel down dogs on entry and bring your own dog bed. The toilet is pretty self explanatory. Please only toilet paper down the toilet. Anything else will block it.
