Houseboat description

Sleeping on this boat is a great adventure for anyone. If you want to experience what staying on the water is like but also want to be able to explore the City: this boat is for you. With it's double cabin at the front and a comfortable front deck you won't miss out on anything. There are two single bunk beds and a very comfortable sofa which flattens out to a double bed in the living area. Allowing for a good night's sleep.

The bathroom is equipped with a shower, a cassette toilet and a wash basin, making sure you can get a fresh start to your day. Towels are provided for you.

There is a wall mounted digital TV with DVD/CD player. Which you can watch from your large comfy sofa.

There are many restaurants and pubs in the area but sometimes staying in can be just as nice. The galley has a gas hob and oven with grill, a good size fridge with freezer compartment. The kitchen is well equipped, so you can cook a meal if you want.

Water is held in a tank onboard and needs topping up every few days (depending on your usage). This will be done by your host.

The boat has a shore supply of electricity which powers the AC system. A DC system powers the fridge and water pumps. An on board charger takes care of the batteries.

Heating is provided by the solid fuel stove which burns a combination of smokeless coal and logs (provided). Making the colder winter nights comfy and warm. The stove can be controlled and kept going 24 hours in very cold weather.

The boat is very close to Paddington station with fast train connections to Heathrow Airport. The closest tube stations are Warwick Avenue and Paddington. Exploring London is very easy from this great location. Follow the canal (on foot) through Regent's Park past the zoo to Camden. Or East to Victoria Park and Limehouse Basin. A few great attractions to visit are the London eye, get to see London from a birds view. Visit Buckingham Palace or view the great Big Ben. There is just too much to list within short distance, so experience it yourself!

How to get there

BY TUBE

The narrowboat is moored in the Pool of Little Venice. This is the triangular bit of canal you see on the map. She is close to Warwick Avenue and Paddington underground stations (Bakerloo Line) and Paddington mainline.

FROM WARWICK AVE STATION

Leaving the station, walk straight ahead up the road and turn right at the traffic lights into Blomfield Rd. The narrowboat is below the road on your left. Carry on to a gate in the railings which brings you down to the canal side.

FROM PADDINGTON STATION

Go to Platform 8 and walk to the end (passed all the bikes)and up the ramp. Follow signs to Hammersmith and City Line and Canal. Before the entrance to the Hammersmith and City Line turn right up the steps and out onto the canal side. Turn left and follow the canal. You will pass under various bridges and pass cafes/restaurants until you pass under a low bridge and round a corner into the Pool of Little Venice. The narrowboat is on the far side. Continue round passing the floating cafe and over a foot bridge on your right.

If you have arrived at Paddington on the underground, make your way to the mainline part of the station and follow the above.

FROM HEATHROW

The quickest but most expensive way to get into London is the Heathrow Express train into Paddington.
The cheapest way is the underground on the Piccadilly Line changing at Piccadilly Circus for the Bakerloo Line northbound. Get off at Warwick Ave. Follow the above to find the boat.

FROM GATWICK

Gatwick Express service or the regular service to Victoria. From there use the Victoria Line tube northbound, change at Oxford Circus to the Bakerloo Line northbound and get off at Warwick Avenue. Its a short walk following the directions above.

CAR/TAXI

Arriving by road you may find the post code useful. The post code of the house opposite is . The narrowboat is moored more or less opposite no.38 Blomfield Rd. This section of Blomfield Rd is One Way. There is on street pay parking on weekdays and it is free overnight from 6.30pm to 8.30 am and all weekend. Check the signs as rules vary from one location to another. At other times parking is by pay metre and is time limited.

If you are bringing a car mid week and need parking, there are useful websites JustPark.com. Or parkonmydrive.com. It can work well. You park in a nearby car park or someone's private driveway. If you search it enter the postcode . This approximates to the boats location.

Paddington Station has a 24 hour car park not too far away. Search under Paddington Station Parking.

LEFT LUGGAGE

Opposite platform 12 Paddington Station.

Or:

stasher.com - This website offers local places to leave luggage. Cheaper than the station.

    Wonderful

The narrowboat is a gem in the centre of London. As frequent visitors to London, I can truly say that this was our most relaxing visit yet. The houseboat has everything you could possibly want or need and Meg the owner is always a call or text away if you have any issues or questions. Highly recommended!

    Magical visit

Our stay was simply fantastic. Our 5 year old twins cant stop talking about it. Apart from the beautifully appointed accommodation and clean environment, the kids loved their bunks, having their own light switches and ofcourse feeding the ducks, swans and geese (breeding season meant loads of activity, which added to their joy). We felt safe and very relaxed. Meg's attention to detail was amazing. We absolutely loved the delicious fresh artisan bread, milk, tea, coffee, jams and bits and bobs left for us. We only needed to head out to the shops on day 2! Perfect location and easy to get to from the station. Wish we could go more often!

    Unforgetable lovely stay

Staying at Jessie definitely made our visit to London unforgettable: our kids loved having dinner and sleeping at the boat and feeding the ducks that live on the channel throughout the boat window. It is a cozy boat (pretty narrow but comfortable) and Meg is a super-host. We appreciated her kind advice for our stay, her guidance on how the boat works (shower, WC...), and the welcome fruit/food she kindly gave us. And we also enjoyed the extensive collection of DVDs available at the boat. A lovely and great stay in London to be repeated!!

A delightful stay on the narrowboat

We spent a wonderful few days on the narrowboat! She is perfectly located to explore London, whilst also providing a tranquil sanctuary. The boat has all the facilities that you need, which were topped off with lots of welcome goodies from our host, Meg.
