Sailing ship description
The Kathrin was built in 1920 as a coastguard cutter, serving as a minesweeper by the German Navy. The ship was extended in 1955 and the wooden skin was replaced by steel. After this renovation, the Kathrin was used as a fishing vessel. In 1985, the Kathrin has been restored and refurbished to be able to sail with guests. Because of her excellent sailing qualities, the vessel is also used as a training ship.
Below decks, a very cozy salon is present, equipped with all the necessary facilities. The salon is very rustic and comfortable. Take a seat at one of the large sofa's and enjoy a meal or a drink with each other. Above, in the deckhouse, there is also room for 12 people.
When the sun is shining, you can enjoy a meal outside on the covered table with seating for 14 people. There is an open galley with professional four-burner gas comfort, large oven, fridge, and freezer.

About the area
Unlike the most other sailing ships, the Kathrin is mainly sailing on the open sea, both the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. The North Sea is a border of the Atlantic Ocean in the Northwest of Europe. The Baltic Sea covers a large part of south Scandinavia and the Baltic states. It is located east of the North Sea.
When sailing the Baltic Sea, we depart from the harbor of Kiel, Germany. For cruises on the North Sea, we depart from Rotterdam (The Netherlands).
