Hi there, so you are looking for a unique, cozy and well located houseboat in Rotterdam? You just found it! I warmly welcome you aboard my recently renovated ship. Until recently this vessel was used to transport goods all through Europe, and now it is a floating B&B with comfortable double rooms. The beds can be put both together so you can snuggle up to your beloved one, or put apart if you're traveling together with a friend or family member.
Houseboat description
This high-end Rotterdam houseboat offers a total of 6 new luxury cabins in the former cargo hold of my ship. By renting a room, I ensure full privacy thanks to the layout. Each bedroom has its own bathroom with toilet, washbasin with make-up mirror and shower, air conditioning, floor heating and a porthole. You can cover the porthole, so that you can darken the bedroom if desired.
On the ship you will find a cozy and spacious shared living room with free coffee and tea facilities. You are invited to use this space and mingle with other guests who may stay here during your visit.
You can fold out your laptop and work or use the internet, play games, have a drink or view one of the available books. The entire boat offers fast and free WIFI.
The spacious terrace on deck gives you a nice view over the harbor.
Note: The whole ship is designed to host larger groups, but when available I rent out single rooms as well. This is why the individual rooms are in the weekends only available one month in advance. The given price always includes a good breakfast, with the value of 12,50 euro. I kindly inform you that you can not use the kitchen for making breakfast, lunch of diner. Thanks for understanding.
From Rotterdam Central Station it takes about 15 minutes to get to our boat. After the reservation is confirmed I will share all the details on public transport and parking with you.
About the area
The boat is docked right next to the Wijnhaven, Dutch for Wine Harbor. And the very next harbor is called Bierhaven, indeed: Beer Harbor. And I'm glad to say that these names reflect the atmosphere very well: we know how to enjoy the good things in life. Not only will you find countless great places to eat and drink, but also you can walk to the Markthall. This world famous market hall is an amazing melting pot of food from all over the world.
Furthermore there is an abundance of cultural highlights within minutes walking. When visiting Rotterdam, the city with one of the largest harbors in the world, you should visit the Maritime Museum for sure, literally around the corner. For culture and architect enthusiasts, there is lots to choose from: visit the unique cubical houses, the Boijmans van Beuningen and the Witte de With Centre for Contemporary Art, the Rotterdam Museum and/or the Dutch Photo Museum. All within proximity of the houseboat.
Moniek Hello, I am Moniek, the owner of the Wilhelmina.
After my study Tropical Agriculture, together with my husband I converted a large formal freight ship back into a sailing barge. We sailed with guests in the North of Holland, learned them sailing and telling them about the Dutch waters and water works. I loved this work with guests. In the meantime we renovated and rigged traditional ships on the Wilhelmina.
Unfortunately, a few years ago my husband passed away and I stopped with the working place, sold the sailing barge and started to be skipper on the yellow/black watertaxis, which you see on the river passing by very quickly.
2017, I converted the Wilhelmina into this nice b&b and group accommodation. I'm happy that I've created this place on a boat where guests feel at ease. I like to welcome guests, tell them about (old) ships, the harbours and the rest of Rotterdam (if they want to hear, of course).
I like to travel, by boat in Europe, but also to other parts of the world. I am always curious.
