Bed & Boat apartment on houseboat. Free Parking and Bikes

We traveled to Holland for the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix. Originally, we were looking for accommodations in Haarlem, but I was trying to book more than a year in advance, and most places wouldn't allow it. We stumbled upon Frans and his houseboat, and while we knew it wasn't closer to Zandvoort than Haarlem, we decided it would be a fun experience. We messaged him with questions multiple times, and he was always immediately responsive and helpful, so we booked our stay about 14 months in advance. Prior to our arrival, he offered to pick us up at Schiphol, which was amazing! Yes, we could have gotten an Uber or taxi, but without knowing anything about where we were going, it was wonderful peace of mind for a small price.

The little apartment is perfect. It has everything you need, and Frans and his wife live right next door (same houseboat), so it's easy if anything is needed. The bedroom and bath are down a narrow, curved staircase, so just know it's the only way down. I wouldn't recommend this spot if you are mobility impaired. The free bikes they offer are wonderful (but for us, traveling each day to Zandvoort (which is 25 km away), once on bikes was enough). We rented Vespas for the remainder of our daily journeys, and again, Frans was very willing to give us a ride to the rental location.

We've spent enough time in tourist-crazy locations, and this was such a welcomed change. It was quiet and peaceful and allowed us to feel more like locals than tourists. The train station is close by, so you can get into the city easily if you want. Restaurants are not plentiful, but with planning, you can get to a few. The supermarket is wonderful. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing place to spend time, this is most definitely fabulous! We would absolutely stay again, and we appreciate Frans for all of his help!! Cheers, Jennie and Bryan

We stayed 5 nights, and it was a perfect mix of light and roomy, had all the essentials, and was in a location that allowed us respite from the busy centre and easy access to lots of bike paths.

Frans and his wife went above and beyond to ensure a smooth and pleasant stay. The houseboat is truly beautiful, modern, and tastefully furnished. It's in a wonderfully quiet location, which meant we slept very well. The kitchen is fully equipped, which is something I've never experienced in holiday apartments. We usually walked to the nearby tram stop to get into town. One day, we went for a ride on Frans's bicycles. All in all, highly recommended.

We had a wonderful weekend in an excellently equipped houseboat, which was lovingly designed by the host and equipped with pleasant extras.

We were finally able to embark on our city break on the second attempt and found a lovely houseboat with excellent amenities at Frans'place. The location is great, and, importantly for Amsterdam, the accommodation includes a parking space for the car. Public transport and a supermarket are within a 10-minute walk. We felt very comfortable from the start and were able to truly enjoy our holiday. Thank you, Frans.
