Juul

Overall my stay at Houseboat Juul was great! It was comfortable, had everything I needed, was clean, and Joyce and Peter were great! The only caution I'd give to everyone staying there is that you have a very small spiral staircase to use to get down into the living area. It would be really hard to get luggage out to the boat and down the stairs. Luckily, I was able to leave my luggage with a friend and just take a back pack of...

El Diamante - Central, spacious and luxurious houseboat

Stayed here for three nights in May, and had a wonderful time. The houseboat is perfect, and in a great location. A few minutes walk from Central Station / center of Amsterdam, yet situated off the tourist paths so you can fully relax and enjoy the view. Well worth popping into Cafe Pollux across the road to sample the local IPA. Hosts were excellent and on hand if needed. Overall, I don't think we could have chosen a better place to stay.

Nina

The house boat was lovely and clean and close to the city but also just far enough out for quietness the boat was well stocked and had everything we needed except for a toaster which would of come in handy so really probably only a matter of asking 😁, but yes would stay again!

Narrow boat rentals in the UK

Narrow boat rentals in the UK

Narrowboats offer a broad variety of options   The narrowboat – or narrow boat as these vessels are originally called – are the  most typical boats in the UK. Once, they were built to transport goods through the narrow canals of the British inland waterways. The boats could not be wider then 7 foot, otherwise they would get stuck in some of the locks. By now, most of these boats are used as (semi) permanent homes or as narrowboat rentals.   A lovely example of a traditional narrowboat is the ‘Stepping Stone’ in Surrey, hosted by Julie White. It’s hard to imagine that in the early days, we’re talking about the18th century, these boats were drawn by horses, guided by a crew member – often a child. At first the families who were in the narrowboat business would live on shore. But as soon as competition from the railway rose, those families could often no longer pay the rent and were forced to go live on board of these canal boats. A tough life, with long working days and poor living condi

The bed and breakfast guide for your stay in Amsterdam

Bed and Breakfast Guide and History Amsterdam Let's start with the basics. What is a bed and breakfast? A bed and breakfast is a small, intimate accommodation that offers overnight stays and sometimes breakfast, but no other meals to its guests. The B&B is most often in the same house or apartment as where the people who run it live. Now let's go back in time: "What is the origin of the bed and breakfast"? The concept of a bed and breakfast, often abbreviated as B&B, has been around for centuries. Originating from the early European custom of opening one's house to travelers, B&Bs have evolved over time but have always held at their core the notion of hospitality. Medieval Europe and Monastic Lodgings Historically, monasteries and inns throughout Europe would offer lodging to travelers on religious pilgrimages during the medieval period. These establishments provided a bed for the night along with a meal in the morning before the travelers continued on their journey, very similar to
