Modern studio on Amstel houseboat - Near center

I would definitely recommend this apartment in a houseboat. It was lovely and very convenient. However, we dare not try to get onto the small floating terrace for fear of falling into the water or not being able to climb back up to the boat. It's not the most accessible and it's a small gripe, but if you are expecting to sit outside on the pontoon, "with a drink to watch the sunset", easily then this may not be for you.

A superb value consideration. Very comfortable check-in and check-out process, no unwanted elements, and nothing missing, and Carmen let me know via messages that she was available and keen to ensure it was a good stay. Regular hotels are a tough sell for me with this kind of offer around, and if you're a shy one, might I add that I never had to actually meet Carmen in person, which also kind of made me feel like it was my own apartment for the duration. Very clean, very neat, very tastefully designed and decorated. Being able to look out on the Amstel river and its passing boats, while showering with open blinds, was definitely a unique high point. Windows are at adult head height. The toilet seat could use a hinge repair or replacement, and the kitchen table's wall lamp seemed to not support its own weight quite like it's supposed to. Both totally usable, though. That's really all I found to criticise.

Carmen was a great host! The houseboat was as shown in the photos and was situated in a great location to explore the sights of Amsterdam. I highly recommend staying at Carmen's houseboat if you come to Amsterdam!

Very convenient area with lots of restaurants and spoiled for choice for either buying food or eating out. Easy walking distance to the market "The Albert Cuypmarkt" that's open 6 days a week, with all the street food you could ever want. The kitchen is fully equipped with an induction/microwave combination. Washing machine in unit. Roomy bathroom and shower. Wonderfully quiet for such a central location, with great views onto the life on the River Amstel. Easy walk to Tram line 4 on Van Wou street and to the Metro station on Wibaut-straat or the bigger Amstel station. Great communication with owner, with easy and timely instructions and a friendly chat if you need anything, but we didn't need anything as everything is so well provided for.
