Modern studio on Amstel houseboat - Near center

Our stay at Carmen’s houseboat was fantastic! The room was clean, and the views were incredible! Only about a 15-minute walk to the closest train station, and a 7-minute walk to the closest tram, made it easy to get around, even in inclement weather! Carmen was very kind and helpful during our stay, and we recommend booking this houseboat!

I stayed in Carmen’s houseboat located right outside central Amsterdam for 5 nights. The home itself is an absolute gem. Everything you need. Lovely living area, queen-size bed that’ll have you well rested for your next adventure, full kitchen with dishwasher, a bathroom that looks like it’s straight out of a magazine, and what’s probably one of the best things about it, a washer, which was a huge help.

On top of all that, it’s in a perfect location. Not too far from all the major attractions that are in the city, nestled in a quiet area, right near public transport and a 20-minute bike ride to Amsterdam Bos. If you’re wondering how the rental accommodates for bikes, you’ll have no problem. There are several bike racks on the main street and one right in front of the unit. Carmen herself is an excellent host and one who takes pride in her dominion. I look forward to my next stay here, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested.

I would definitely recommend this apartment in a houseboat. It was lovely and very convenient. However, we dare not try to get onto the small floating terrace for fear of falling into the water or not being able to climb back up to the boat. It's not the most accessible and it's a small gripe, but if you are expecting to sit outside on the pontoon, "with a drink to watch the sunset", easily then this may not be for you.

Carmen was a wonderful host, and the space was perfect for me and my friend visiting the city. Carmen was both proactive and responsive to our needs.

The location is nice: close to the city center, but not right in it, so the neighborhood is still quiet and peaceful, while you can easily reach many city amenities such as restaurants and sights. Regarding the premises themselves, the apartment is cozy and renovated. It wasn't exactly what I expected from a houseboat, though. I used to have the idea that houseboats would have a terrace or large windows facing a canal. But in fact, here only the basement of the houseboat was available for guests, with narrow windows under the ceiling. It wasn't really the houseboat experience I was hoping for. But to be honest, the descriptions and photos are all accurate; it's just that I had assumed it would look different. Maybe it would be helpful to also add a photo of the house from the outside and indicate exactly where the premises for rent are. Maybe that is what I was missing when choosing a houseboat for my vacation. That might be useful for other guests as well, so they don't expect something that isn't shown in the photos.
