About the area

Durgerdam and Waterland:

The relaxed atmosphere in the picturesque harbor village of Durgerdam quickly makes visitors forget all the worries of the day. The village consists almost entirely of a long row of picturesque - mostly wooden - houses on a narrow street above the old Zuiderzeedijk and has had the status of a protected village sight since 1976. Durgerdam is located northeast of Amsterdam and, like other old villages in this area known as Waterland, has become part of the municipality of Amsterdam.

    Amazing location, accommodation and host

    Encourage everyone to experience stopping in this unique spot. Located on a private jetty in Durgerdammerdijk, it's an amazing gateway to the Waterlands and easy access by bike or by tram to the centre of Amsterdam. Cees' boat is a wonderfully restored boat that he takes the time to make sure you understand and can move about in safely. 5 star stay.

    Wonderful situation, and Cees couldn't have been kinder. Superb restaurant in town, and fantastic supermarket nearby where you can also eat. The boat rocks a lot - particularly when large barges and other traffic go past. You need to be ok with this if you're going to stay onboard.

    A really lovely weekend

    There were three of us, each with our own bunk. Cees is a really great host! Not at all intrusive, very laid-back and always on hand!! There are safety guidelines to follow, and they’re all explained very clearly! As we’re at the far end of the marina, there’s a view of the river which is very relaxing. Especially when there’s a gentle swell – it lulls us to sleep. You don’t need a car to get around if you enjoy walking. (The supermarket is a 20 minutes’ walk away, and the tram to Amsterdam city centre is a 25 minutes’ walk away.) We’ll be back!! Thank youuu, Cees!!

    We can only thank our landlord Cees again and again for such a wonderful experience. It is a lovingly furnished and decorated yacht with many original parts. It was very clean, comfortable and Cees explained everything in detail. The small marina is magical and you feel like a dropout with 100% increased quality of life ❤️. In the small village next door you could easily rent bikes and there was also a great local market nearby. The city center of Amsterdam can be reached after half an hour of leisurely cycling. After just 5 minutes it was pure relaxation. Thank you 🤩
