Welcome to your stay

Houseboat in nature, 15 minutes from the Central Station.

Explore your stay

My houseboat is situated on one of the most beautiful spots in Amsterdam. It's got a big open garden that borders on some wild woods, and opposite the wide canal (in which you can swim) is a forest. I love my home; it has everything you need, and it's very quiet.
It's like living in the country. A 20-minute walk along woods and water takes you to the next village on a lake, and a 15-minute bike ride gets you to the (free) ferry opposite the Central Station and the most beautiful city in the world!

About the area

Amsterdam's Historic Charm and Architectural Heritage

Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, is renowned for its rich history and iconic architecture. The city boasts historic landmarks such as the Anne Frank House, where visitors can learn about the wartime diary of Anne Frank, and the Westerkerk, a beautiful Renaissance church near the Jordaan district. The city's signature canals, a UNESCO World Heritage site, date back to the 17th century and showcase Amsterdam's Golden Age of trade and culture. Throughout the city, the distinctive gabled houses and historic warehouses provide a glimpse into Amsterdam’s mercantile past.

Exploring Indoor Attractions in Amsterdam

When looking for indoor activities, Amsterdam offers a wealth of options. The Rijksmuseum displays masterpieces from Dutch painters like Rembrandt and Vermeer. The nearby Van Gogh Museum presents an extensive collection of the painter's works and personal letters. For science enthusiasts, NEMO Science Museum provides interactive exhibits that are fun for all ages. Additionally, the Hermitage Amsterdam hosts exhibitions from its counterpart in Saint Petersburg, showcasing international art and history.

Outdoor Delights: Parks, Canals, and Cycling

For outdoor activities, guests can enjoy a bike ride along Amsterdam's extensive cycling network or take a leisurely stroll through the Vondelpark, the city's largest green space. Canal cruises offer a unique perspective of the city’s architecture and lively neighborhoods. Those interested in markets can visit the Albert Cuyp Market or the flower market, where fresh blooms and local delicacies abound. The historic neighborhoods surrounding Nieuwendammerdijk provide peaceful waterside walks and the charm of traditional Dutch village streets within the city.

Nature and Wildlife Experiences Near Amsterdam

While Amsterdam is a bustling urban center, nature lovers can explore local wildlife at nearby green spaces such as the Amsterdamse Bos, a large park with diverse birdlife, deer, and small mammals. The North Holland province is also known for its coastal dunes, salt marshes, and nature reserves like the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park, a short trip from the city. These areas offer opportunities for birdwatching, hiking, and enjoying the local flora and fauna in a natural setting close to Amsterdam.

    Had the best time!

My partner and I stayed at Henk’s place for three nights and had the best time. The place looks exactly like the photos. Super cozy and homely. The surroundings are beautiful and so peaceful. It is a little bit off the main path but super easy to find, thanks to Henk’s clear instructions. Henk was really great with communication, super fast to reply, really friendly, and told us everything we needed to know.
I also proposed to my (now fiancée) there, and it was so beautiful, and Henk’s place will always be special to us! Henk was even kind enough to send us a personalised congratulations message from his own vacation, which was super sweet of him!
Would recommend to anyone, and we hope to return in the future. Henk is a fantastic person, and his place matches that.
Thanks again for the most special stay, Henk ❤️

    Perfect place!

Henk’s place was perfect for the type of travel we enjoy. It was easily accessible to the bus that quickly brought you to the train station, would have been even easier on bikes. Mornings would double peaceful on the water, watching the bonded geese and people taking a morning swim, sail, and the occasional rowing team. We enjoyed a storm that moved through one evening. The space is precisely as described. Henk gave perfect directions on how to find it from the airport. Even when I was a complete klutz and dropped the house key in the water, he did not panic or give me grief but immediately hired a locksmith to fix the problem before we returned in the afternoon. Very responsive. The overall Noord neighborhood is perfect to escape to from the city but still be plenty close to enjoy anything wanted.

    So much to do around

We spent 5 nights in Henk's houseboat, and it was amazing. The canal is really peaceful, and there is so much to do around. Thank you again, Henk, for your hospitality!

    Wonderful stay

We had a wonderful stay at Henk's boat house surrounded by beautiful nature. It's very quiet and peaceful and you could take a pleasant swim right from the boat terrace. The neighbors were also lovely and friendly. The location is, while idyllic and serene, easily accessible by bike and free ferry that takes no longer than 5 minutes and runs every 10 minutes. The bike path to the ferry runs through pretty streets where you can enjoy the local scenery and pretty houses. Henk was super friendly and accommodating as well, we would love to come back soon!
