Thanks to its central location, you can easily walk to Amsterdam Central Station, excellent restaurants, famous sights, and the iconic Montelbaanstoren.

Explore your stay

Sleeping on the Water

Step aboard and experience Amsterdam in a way you won’t soon forget. This luxurious boutique houseboat is located on the Oudeschans, right in the heart of the city, yet in a remarkably peaceful spot. The Forepeak Suite is designed for two guests and combines the unique feeling of sleeping on the water with the comfort of a stylish stay. As the boat gently moves with the water, you can enjoy the atmosphere of Amsterdam’s canals. From the suite and the deck, you can watch boats pass by and experience daily life on the water up close.

Comfortable Suite for Two

The suite features one bedroom with a spacious king-size bed. Luxurious bedding ensures a restful night’s sleep after a day of walking, shopping, or visiting museums. The interior feels warm, well cared for, and comfortable, with several seating areas where you can relax together. Watch television, plan your next walk through the city, or quietly enjoy a cup of coffee. Heating and air conditioning help keep the interior comfortable, regardless of the season. Thanks to wireless internet, you can also easily stay connected when you want to share photos, look something up, or work online between activities.

Relax in Your Private Sauna

One of the most special amenities is the built-in private sauna. After an active day in Amsterdam, you don’t need to leave the houseboat to fully unwind. Warm up, relax your muscles, and end the day feeling completely at ease. The modern bathroom has a comfortable shower and is equipped with practical essentials, including a hairdryer and bed linen. Guests describe the shower as surprisingly good and appreciate the combination of a modern bathroom and a private sauna. This makes your stay not only adventurous but also wonderfully luxurious and comfortable.

A Terrace on the Canal

Outside, the houseboat has a small private terrace. This is a wonderful spot for your first coffee in the morning or a quiet drink at the end of the afternoon. Sit in the sun and watch canal boats and other vessels glide by. The lively canals provide an ever-changing view, while the residential surroundings feel peaceful and safe. Inside, you can also choose from several seating areas, so there is always a comfortable spot to read, catch up, or simply enjoy the unique surroundings.

Central and Peaceful Location

The location makes this houseboat especially appealing. You’ll be staying in the centre of Amsterdam, within a short walk of Amsterdam Central Station and numerous restaurants, shops, and attractions. The distinctive Montelbaanstoren is nearby and provides a beautiful landmark during your walks through the neighbourhood. According to previous guests, you can reach the bustle of the city centre in about ten minutes on foot before returning to the tranquillity of the water. This gives you the best of both worlds: a central base and a relaxing place to retreat to.

The houseboat has a well-equipped kitchen with:

  • A coffee maker
  • A refrigerator
  • A microwave
  • An oven
  • A toaster
  • A dishwasher

This makes it easy to prepare breakfast. The following household amenities are also available:

A Stay with Character

This accommodation is perfect for couples looking for more than an ordinary hotel room. You’ll enjoy an authentic experience on a clean, comfortable houseboat with modern amenities and a relaxed atmosphere. Previous guests praise the comfortable bed, friendly welcome, convenient location, and waterside terrace. Keep in mind, however, that this really is a boat. Bringing a lot of large luggage can be difficult due to the access and steps. The layout may also be less suitable for guests with limited mobility. If you travel with compact luggage and are comfortable using stairs, a charming and unforgettable stay awaits you.

Your Amsterdam Adventure

Start your morning with views of the canal, explore the historic city centre during the day, and then return to your own peaceful spot on the water. Make use of the sauna, settle into one of the seating areas, or enjoy the passing boat traffic from the terrace. The combination of luxurious bedding, a king-size bed, modern amenities, and a central location makes this suite ideal for a romantic weekend or a longer stay for two. Here, you don’t just sleep in Amsterdam, you truly become part of the unique life along its canals.

Your Private Space

Our houseboat has multiple private areas. You’ll be staying in the beautiful suite shown in the photos, which is your private space during your stay. Other parts of the boat are not included.

Complimentary Canoes

To make your stay even more memorable, guests can enjoy free use of our two canoes at no extra cost. Explore the surrounding waters at your own pace and experience the beauty of the area from a unique perspective.

Terrace Access

Please note: The terrace is also used as a passageway to the other houseboat moored alongside ours, so guests from the other houseboat may occasionally pass through.

Houseboat owner

Rohen

Hi, I'm Rohen, a born-and-raised Amsterdammer with a deep love for this city's energy, history, and free spirit. I study Nutrition & Dietetics at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, which means I care about people's wellbeing in everything I do, including how I host.

Over the past few years, I've poured my heart (and a lot of elbow grease) into transforming this historic houseboat into the boutique gem it is today. Every detail, from the sauna to the luxury linens, was chosen with care. Hosting isn't just a side project for me; it's an extension of who I am. I love sharing my city with curious, open-minded travellers and making sure your stay feels special, seamless and genuinely Amsterdams.

My co-hosts, Albert and Gerben, are equally dedicated, so you'll always have someone on hand if you need anything. We respond fast and we care, that's a promise.

The Oudeschans is, in my eyes, one of Amsterdam's best-kept secrets, and I get to wake up here every morning. This canal sits right at the crossroads of the old city: historic warehouses and houseboats line the water, and the iconic Montelbaanstoren tower stands just around the corner like a postcard come to life.

What I love most is the balance. You're steps away from Nieuwmarkt, the buzzing Zeedijk, Chinatown, the Waterlooplein flea market, and a maze of boutique shops and hidden courtyards, yet the canal itself feels peaceful and unhurried. You can sit on the deck with a coffee and watch the city go by at its own pace. That contrast, vibrant but serene, central but calm, is exactly what makes Amsterdam so special to me, and exactly why I live here.

    Unique place to sleep!

Unique place to sleep in Amsterdam. We loved it and slept really well. Adequate but limited space. Conveniently located near everything but peaceful and quiet.

    I cannot recommend enough!

We booked this houseboat stay for our last night of a 13-day trip through the Netherlands and Belgium. I cannot recommend highly enough that you do the same. We stopped running from place to place, overwhelming our senses with all the beauty of these two countries, and just relaxed outside on the boat. We ordered takeout and picked up a bottle of wine (as well as indulged in the prosecco Rohen provided for us) and sat and observed and welcomed the calm of the gorgeous surroundings.
That night, we slept incredibly well in the comfortable bed! I highly recommend this place!

    Highlights of our trip

This BnB was one of the highlights of our trip. Such a unique experience!! The place was very nice, updated and clean inside. Sitting on the deck outside was so pleasant. The location is perfect because it is on a quieter street but very close to areas with lots to do, restaurants, bars, etc. Rohan was responsive and helpful. You do have to be careful when entering the boat and using the stairs down into it, but that is the nature of a houseboat. Rohan was very kind to help us carry our luggage down into the unit. I hope to stay here again when I visit Amsterdam! If you want a quintessential Amsterdam experience, book the houseboat!

    Fantastic experience!

Fantastic experience! Cool design and everything you might need is on the boat. Perfect location, right in the middle of the city, yet very quiet at night. The hosts were very welcoming. I will definitely come back!

Great hosts, unique stay, peaceful yet central location!

Great hosts, unique stay, peaceful yet central location! I’d definitely recommend.

In particular, Rohen, Gerben, and Albert are really responsive and go the extra mile. We had a water outage due to a storm at 7 a.m. They immediately responded with various alternative solutions, including giving us access to another apartment. They even offered to drive us to the airport, which we really appreciated.

The only thing I’d note if you’re a light sleeper is that the boat is across from a clock tower that chimes loudly every half hour. They provide earplugs, though, and the neighborhood itself is really cute and quiet.
