Houseboat summary

Our houseboat is situated on a marvelous spot in the the Amstel River. If you are looking for a relative quite place to stay but still like to be close to everything this is the place to be.

The apartment offers great views and more than enough space since the entire space is about 60m2. You will have your own outside deck to relax at and enjoy the Amstel river and for those guests who are in for a bit more adventure we have sup boards for rent and also provide little stairs on the deck to make it possible to have a swim as well.

The vibrant Albert Cuyp Market is only 10 minutes by bike away, which is located in the truly authentic and never dull neighborhood called 'the Pijp'.

Houseboat description

Our family lives on one side of the houseboat. Your own entrance door from the outside leads to the part where our guests stay. The door opens with an individual code so no keys are necessary, which makes it possible to be flexible with your arrival time.

A nice living area can be found on the first level with wonderful views all around of the river and the park outside. A nice couch to relax at and a small TV for those who want to have a nice evening in. Also a dining table and chairs can be found here where you can have a great dinner or breakfast overlooking the Amstel.

The outside deck is private and also has chairs and a small table to enjoy long evenings outside.

The kitchen has many appliances such as a microwave/oven, fridge, coffee maker, water boiler, toaster plates and cutlery and much more.

On this floor you will also find a toilet, and another one inside the bathroom on the lower level.

The stairs will lead you downstairs and therefor below the water level. Here is the good side bedroom with a double bed. Adjacent is the bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. The bedroom and bathroom windows are above the water level and therefor can be opened.

Our houseboat is the perfect spot for couples or friends who want to explore our beautiful city but also enjoy water life and nature to escape to at the end of the day.

We have 2 bikes which can be rented for 15 euro per bike per stay.

How to get there

Public transport:

The RAI metro as well as the train station is only a 5 minute walk away. This station is about 10 minutes from Amsterdam Central Station.

By car:

Take the exit S110 'Rivierenbuurt' to get to the boat. Our neighborhood has ample parking space but it is paid from 9AM until 9PM at 4,50 Euro per hour. There are Park & Ride areas as well as parking spaces which you can book in front which are not so expensive.

About the area

The Rivierenbuurt is a great area to live at in Amsterdam. So you will quickly feel like a local. Many expats, families and elderly people live here. So there is something to find for every need.

The Martin Luther Kingpark across our boat is a great place to meet people. Many of the locals like to hang out there during summer days to have a picknick. In the park is a nice restaurant which is open for lunch and dinner.

The supermarket, drugstore and other shops can be found at the Rijnstraat and Maasstraat which are only a 5 minute walk away.

Wow, absolutely blown away by this place. Will be back, definitely. One of those hidden gems, of which you could think not to tell others.

This is not like a room, but a whole house, much bigger than pictures can show. The view is stunning, amazing and to forever fall in love with. Canoe, standup sup is available to use or just to be seen passing by. On the other side there is a big nice green park, so very tranquil, while being situated very well in the city.

Sleeping on this houseboat is like being a princess. And waking up, enjoying a cappuccino right beside the water in the sun even better. I really recommend this to everyone, people alone for some peace time, couples on a romantic city-trip, families enjoying the water!

Last but not least: Simon and Jolanda are wonderful people, with great communication and being very helpful. Definitely come back here again.

This is the place to stay!

If you want a place to stay in Amsterdam that is authentic, comfortable, the perfect balance of city proximity and country quietness then this is the place to stay. Every comfort is available and being on the water's edge is perfect after a business day of touring, shopping and admin. The hosts are the best ever and we look forward to our next trip immensely.

    Wonderful short vacation

It was a wonderful short vacation with many experiences. From the houseboat we only walked about 40 minutes into town and could see a lot. The accommodation was very neat and well-kept and is in super nice, quiet surroundings!

We would come back anytime! Thank you and the wonderful hosts, Jolanda and Simon!
    Thank you so much!
