Houseboat description
The houseboat consists of two parts, the part of the owner and your private apartment. This means that you have your own entrance to come and go including three private terraces on the water. The setting is very private and calm yet the owner of the boat is always close by should you need any assistance. The apartment is very light. Most part of the facade is window.
In the apartment you will find a king size bed, private bathroom with shower, toilet and basin. There is a pantry with a coffee- and tea maker, a large fridge and a micro wave. An antique closet holds enough space for your clothes to hang or lay down. This is where you will find ample towels, an iron and a safe with a key. The seating area boasts a comfortable couch, television, stereo, iPad, games and a DVD player with lots of great films. The apartment has air-conditioning and floor heating under the wooden floor so is comfortable at all times of the year. Breakfast is served daily.
Every morning you will find a box outside your door with fresh bread, fruit, juice, milk etc. No problem if you have any special requests for breakfast ie vegan, vegetarian etc. It will be organized.
In short: A modern, light, comfortable, cosy and private apartment in a great area!

How to get there
By plane, train and tram:
When you arrive at Schiphol airport we advise you to take a train to Central Station and then take Tram 14. It’s easy and cheap. Get off at the "Zeeburgerdijk" stop. You will see a bridge across the street. Walk over the bridge and turn right. You have arrived at the Boathotel.
You can also take a bus from central station. This is the quickest way to get to the boat. Go to the bus-platform and take bus 22 in the direction of "Muiderpoortstation". Get of at the "Funen" stop. Keep walking in the direction the bus was driving. Turn right, turn left and you have arrived.
You can buy a separate train-ticket online or at the airport. You can buy a separate tram- or bus-ticket in the tram (no cash accepted). But you can also buy the Amsterdam Travel Ticket which includes a train ticket to central station and unlimited travel for 1, 2 or 3 days. You can buy the card online, in the main hall of Schiphol Airport and the Railway booth, at the tourist information booth or at the AKO bookshops.
By plane and taxi:
You can also take a taxi from Schiphol airport. Amsterdam taxi’s have meters who start running at € 7,50 for the first 2 km and then charge € 2,20 for each kilometer driven. It’s about a 24 kilometer drive from Schiphol Airport to the Boathotel so the taxiride will cost you about € 55 in total.
By plane, train and bike:
Depending on your luggage of course, it is also an option to rent a bike at central station and paddle to the Boathotel. You can rent a bike at MacBike which is located in the eastern part of the central station building. Rental start of at € 12,50 a day (more days gets cheaper). From Central station it’s about a 10 minute ride to the Bed&Breakfast Boat (it’s one straight road). Mac Bike opens from 9 AM -5.30 PM
By plane, train and taxi:
Taking a taxi from Central Station to the Boathotel will cost you about € 12,-. I must say that sometimes taxi-drivers in Amsterdam can be a bit rude or unwilling to take you for a short trip. Make sure they switch on the meter before take off! Or take an Uber!
By car or motorcycle:
The Boathotel is conveniently located for arrival by cars or motorcycles. Just take exit number 114 (Zeeburg, Artis. Centrum) on the ring-road around Amsterdam. Turn left at the traffic lights. After 500 meters you drive straight into a tunnel. After exiting the tunnel turn left at the traffic lights. After 500 meters you see two red buildings and a bridge in front of you. Turn left before the bridge. You have reached the Boathotel.
Carparking:
Unique: Parking is available right in front of the Boathotel at low cost! For only € 10 per day you can park your car conveniently in front of your doorstep. Ready to use for trips to other parts of Holland, the seaside or for instance the windmills at Zaanse Schans.
Motorcycle parking:
Motorcycles can be parked safely just a 2 minute walk away from the Boathotel. You will get a private parking spot in a locked shed for only € 5 per day per motorbike.
About the area
The boat is moored at a very interesting spot on the border of the city centre and the bubbly east of Amsterdam. So you are very close to all the major sites in the city centre but also to the more local hotspots in the east. My favorites are the Javastraat which holds an interesting variety of shops and shop owners and an even more interesting mix of visitors and locals. Just sit down on one of the many terraces and look at and talk to the people passing by. And of course the IJ brewery at the end of the street is a must visit. The IJ beer is brewed- and served in the same street the boat is on. Another good tip is the Flevopark which is a 10 minute walk away from the boat. It boasts an open air swimming pool and a great speakeasy, a small bar in the park where you can taste local liquors. Plenty to do here in the east but the city centre is at your doorstep as well!

Hi, I am Rene, I've been living on my houseboat for more than 10 years now. I spent every spare moment on revamping it to what it has become now. A modern and light houseboat with an adjacent private B&B apartment. I love working on the boat and being on the water. In my spare time I go out boating or cycling.
