Houseboat summary
Ready to experience Amsterdam in the most memorable way? Now is your chance to enjoy a typical Dutch way of living: on a houseboat on one of the iconic Amsterdam canals. It is definitely one of the most unique ways to experience this historical city while being situated in its very heart.
Houseboat description
Our cozy apartment is the perfect place from where you can easily explore every characteristic part of Amsterdam by foot or public transport.
After a day of exploring the city, you can unwind by lying in the hammock by the waterfront and watching the boats pass by. And when it gets too hot, you can simply jump in the water straight from the waterfront balcony.
We also offer a nice vinyl collection, a ‘home cinema system’ with a 100 inch (250 cm), 16:9 projection screen (we don’t have cable tv, but you can easily stream Netflix, Youtube, etc. to the beamer via the chromecast), many board games and a fully equipped kitchen with a large oven and 5 burner gas stove. So even if the sun isn’t shining, you won’t easily be bored :)

How to get there
All the city's underground- and tram lines are within a few minutes walking distance. By metro and train, it takes no longer than fifteen minutes to reach Schiphol airport and five minutes to Amsterdam Central station from which you can easily discover other parts in the Netherlands (The Hague, Rotterdam, Giethoorn, the beach, etc.).
If you arrive by car, you can park your car on the street outside of our house, but parking fees are expensive in our part of town. The city does offer possibilities to park your car a bit outside of the center (P+R locations), where you can leave your car up to four days for €1. The only condition is that you travel back to your car with public transport, but as our home is practically next to the metro line this shouldn’t be a problem. However, there is no guarantee that upon your arrival there will be an open spot, so we still recommend making use of public transport.
About the area
Our apartment is the perfect home-base for any Amsterdam adventure. Most of the highlights can be reached on foot: Rijksmuseum, Damsquare, Van Gogh Museum, Heineken Experience, Anne Frank House, Flowermarket, Vondelpark, Artis Zoo, the characteristic canals (although you will already be living on one :), and many more. If you don’t feel like discovering Amsterdam on foot, all the big metro- and tram lines are a maximum of ten minutes walking distance away.
In the evening, the nearby Pijp area offers many lovely restaurants and bars with cuisines from all over the world. The city also offers many joints where you can enjoy great live music (Paradiso, Melkweg, Alto Jazz café are all within ten minutes walking distance). We're more than happy to provide you with names of some of the very best ;)
Houseboat owner
Julie
Our names are Gosse and Julie and we are fortunate enough to be living together on an amazing houseboat in the centre of Amsterdam. We love our home so much, that we actually can't wait to share this place with other people. Hopefully it will give equally as much joy.
