Best Kept Secret - Private floating apartment

Every now and then I like to go abroad and discover the rest of the world. And that is when you can experience what it is like to live on my wonderful houseboat on the verge of the Jordaan area. You will have the full boat to yourself: 50 square meters of floating joy, just around the corner of the buzzing inner city, yet located on a quiet canal. 

In 2017 I bought this barge in Amsterdam Old West and I never thought it would have such an amazing impact on my life. Every day feels like holiday and the ever changing scenery on our beloved canal is truly inspiring. Even before you get up, the houseboat life will already have a positive impact on the rest of the day. Just laying on the double bed while watching the swans and ducks swimming by is my favorite moment. And I'm sure that you will feel the same.

The rest of the houseboat is also really comfortable and offers nice water views thanks to the large windows. Just open the sliding door and you have access to the cozy terrace, my favorite spot for a first cup of coffee. If the weather is less inviting to go outside, you can snuggle up on the couch with the wood stove burner on fire. Of course the boat is also equipped with comfortable central heating, creating a comfortable and warm atmosphere all through the year. A special nice feature is the eco friendly green roof that I have put on top of the boat for better insulation and a to create a nice habitat for our beloved bees and butterflies in town.

The large table in the living room is a wonderful place to have breakfast while making plans for a new day in town. And the kitchen offers everything you might need. Don't fancy cooking? No problem at all. We have various great restaurants literally around the corner, from fancy haute cuisine to traditional Iranian kitchen, and from awesome Italian wood stove pizza's to some great tappas bars. Not to mention the countless bars around, some of them with very nice terraces to enjoy the sun while having a drink with your beloved one.

I'm glad to say that the boat is equipped with a Sonos music system so you can enjoy your own music. And of course we have great free wifi, as well as Netflix and cable TV.

About the area: my boat is located on the verge of the famous Jordaan area. So famous attractions like the 'Negen Straatjes' (the 9 Streets, packed with boutique shops) and the Anne Frank House are within walking distance. Both the Dam Square, Westerpark, Vondelpark and the Museum Square can be reached easily on foot, by bike or public transport. The best of all is that you are close to all those great place, yet you are assured to have a good night rest since the canal is not frequented by tourist masses. Yes, I dare to say that I live in The Best Kept Secret ;-)

The boat is particularly suitable for couples who are looking for a special 'home away from home' with lots of privacy. Note that my house is not a party place, so no smoking, loud music or drugs of any kind allowed aboard. I like my neighbors, they like me and we all want to keep it that way. If you violate these rules, I am forced to deny you further access to the boat without any refund.
