Houseboat summary

Picture yourself on a wonderfully renovated ship on the Amstel River, right in front of the iconic Hermitage museum. Enjoy the panoramic views from the wheelhouse or from the deck with bridge view and experience what it is like to live on a houseboat right in the city centre of Amsterdam!

Houseboat description

Not only is the ship very convenient, but also the location is simply superb. The neighborhood could not be more 'Amsterdam', with lots of charming bridges and wonderful canal houses all around your floating home. Having a first cup of coffee on the deck, watching the famous Skinny Bridge and swans swimming by is the perfect start of the day.

Within a few minutes walking you find several highlights of the city, such as the Rembrandt Square, Waterloo Square,  Muntplein and the Flower market, the Royal Theatre Carré, the city hall and the Opera. Walk a few minutes more and you reach the buzzing red light district and the Nieuwmarkt.

Now let me tell you something more about the recently renovated ship. Personally I like the wheelhouse a lot. Not only because of the unique panoramic views, but also because of the bar that I have made here. No better place to have a drink with your beloved ones while watching the city life go by.

Descend from the wheelhouse and you enter the large and spacious living room with open kitchen. The vast amount of portholes create a cool nautical atmosphere and let in lots of light. Thanks to the use of natural materials, the place feels very warm and cozy. In the living room we offer a comfortable sleeping sofa that you can use in case you are traveling with three or four guests. The romantic master bedroom is equipped with a large and comfortable double bed.

Although there are numerous bars and restaurants within a stone's throw distance of the ship, you also can prepare a great meal at home. The kitchen is fully equipped and offers a 4-stove burner, oven, dish washer, fridge, coffee maker and water cooker. We also offer a washing machine.

The whole boat is equipped with central heating, so you are just as comfortably warm as in any other modern apartment - even on the coldest winter nights.

Kids are welcome, but we want you to know that we are not responsible in any way for their safety. Staying on a houseboat means that there is water all around you. Please keep this in mind while booking our boat.

I hope to have given you the best possible impression of the ship, but don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions - always glad to help!

A unique way to experience Amsterdam!

After staying on the houseboat, I don't think we could ever explore Amsterdam any other way! Mathy's place is in a perfect location - close enough to walk to everything, but not in the chaos near Central Station. The houseboat was very clean and modern and plenty of space for a family of 4 (although bathroom and shower are tight given the layout). We loved sitting on the deck with a drink just watching the other boats go by on the canal. It was definitely worth it and we wouldn't hesitate to do it again!

    Romantic stay!

Recently we started our holiday in Amsterdam on this beautiful houseboat. Walking onto this vessel was very impressive. Very clean and much more space than I expected. Mathys was there to meet us to check-in, was very friendly and showed us everything. Wifi worked great and it was handy having a fridge in the kitchen as well as the upstairs bar. The location was great, walking distance to restaurants, bars, markets, and shops, yet so quiet at night. The highlight was the romantic drinks at twilight on the deck overlooking the Amstel River watching all the boats cruised past. The overall experience was amazing and would definitely return here again.
