Welcome to your stay

Welcome to Amsterdam, and welcome to our charming houseboat, right in the middle of the city centre. Sit back, relax and enjoy the most wonderful view over the river. And once off the boat, you will find everything you need within just a few minutes walking. The Rembrandt Square is literally around the corner, and the famous Waterloo Square, Rembrandt House and countless great restaurants and bars are located within a stone's throw distance.

Explore your stay

Once aboard, you will feel that this is quite something special. We're pretty sure that no hotel can match this traditional houseboat experience right in the middle of town. The place has central heating so it is comfortable all year round. The bathroom has a comfortable shower with thermostat faucet and a toilet. Linen is provided as well.

The bedroom offers one double bed and one single bed, and in the living room is a sleeping couch. In total we can accommodate up to four persons.

The accommodation is located on a traditional ship, resulting in a design that follows the shapes of the vesssel. This means that the ceiling has limited height, something tall people might consider. Most guests however appreciate the unique atmosphere the Captain Rembrandt has to offer. Especially the bedroom offers lots of character thanks to the cozy timber work.

The living room is really cozy, a great place to relax and snuggle up to your beloved one. Watch the large flatscreen tv, enjoy fast wifi and make plans for another great day in town.

The mini kitchen on the houseboat offers basics such as a coffee maker, microwave, sink with hot and cold water. There are no cooking facilities, but who really needs that with so many awesome restaurants, bars and coffee places around?

And last but not least: on the top of the boat there is a wonderful sundeck - without a doubt a magnificent place to have your first cup of coffee while the city life passes by.

We hope to have given you the best possible impression of our houseboat and look forward to welcome you aboard the Captain Rembrandt!

    Wonderful stay

Our stay on the Captain Rembrandt was wonderful. The location was perfect as it was within walking distance of the museums, canal tours, restaurants, markets, and cafés.

    Nice houseboatShow original

Great location, nicely furnished but a bit small for 4 adults. Communication and handover very uncomplicated.

    No bathroomShow original

The location of the houseboat is very good and in the middle of Amsterdam, which of course means a little more traffic on the street. The facility is very simple and loveless. There are no storage options for the wardrobe, no coat hooks or shelves. However, the biggest surprise was the "bathroom". A chamber with a mini porthole and an open shower in a hole. Only suitable for slim and athletic people. No towel hook or soap dish there either. The search for the sink ended in front of the kitchen unit in the living room. And for the price. Just because we love Amsterdam so much, we were able to overlook these shortcomings. It wasn't the first houseboat we got to know. But by no means the prettiest. Gabriele

    Central location

This houseboat offers a great location. We were able to walk to nearly everything. With that central location comes a lot of street noise. Our group included 4 small women and found the quarters very tight. It isn’t a good choice for tall or large guests. The only sink was in the living/kitchen area. Also, although it can sleep 4 people, there is a daily fee for any additional guests over two people. Note to anyone wanting to rent a houseboat over King’s Day in April: don’t be on a canal in Amsterdam, unless you want to party. The streets were filled with parties that go on until 2 am.

    So central! Great location

This boat is right in the heart of Amsterdam but not noisy at all. Very quiet at night and we slept really well. The host was so helpful and friendly - and gave us great restaurant recommendations. The boat is lovey and so comfortable. Sitting on the deck in the sun with a glass of wine watching the world go by will be a very happy memory! Thank you!!
