About the Boat

The boat offers a distinctive combination of retro vintage elements, such as a curved ceiling and wooden walls, with modern luxury. This was quite a challenge, but we succeeded. Therefore, you can watch the flatscreen TV (70+ channels) from a genuine chair by Gerrit Rietveld, one of the most famous Dutch furniture designers, and have dinner at the vintage table of Holland’s design master Louis van Teeffelen whilst listening to your own music plugged in at the docking station.

Bathroom and Bedrooms

The exceptional bathroom is close to a spa. The bath, half sunk in the floor, and rain shower give a view of the porthole, which looks out over the canal—one of the preserved details of this old houseboat. Not only the Italian tiles and design taps but also the sheer size of the bathroom contribute to the ultimate bathing experience.

The Arden sleeps 4 people comfortably. It has two separate bedrooms with high-standard quality beds that can be used either as twins or doubles. All rooms have a water view and are provided with WiFi.

Fully Equipped Kitchen

The kitchen is designed for your convenience. The stylish white, minimal design covers a complete range of all the necessary utilities:

Have a unique experience of Amsterdam on ‘the perfect houseboat,’ situated on a picturesque canal among the real local Amsterdammers of Oud-West.

As fellow boat-locals in Oud-West, without a doubt one of the most authentic and original parts of the city, we are proud to say that this area does not have any tourist traps, and you can truly experience great variety, food, and shops among the locals.

And yet, must-sees such as the Dam Square, Vondelpark, Anne Frank House, Westerkerk, and the Leidse Square are located within walking distance! Meander to the oldest part of the city called the Jordaan to enjoy boutique shopping and fantastic food, or walk to the theatre district and enjoy the great nightlife around the Leidse Square.

Scenic Views and Atmosphere

Enjoy the great view of one of the most beautiful canals in Amsterdam: the Da Costagracht. Feel the peace and quiet in the heart of the city whilst being enchanted by the rippling water, swans, and ducks. Our houseboat has large sliding windows with a view of the waterside. This offers not only a unique sight of Amsterdam water life but also a typical reflection on the ceiling, especially at night when the old street lanterns are lit. There is simply no new age CD, whale sounds, or Nepalese singing bowl that can beat that!

    Loved it - can't say it any other way

    The location, the boat, the owners Iris and Juul: we loved it all! We actually were the first guests in their houseboat since they had only moved 2 week ago. We were impressed by the high level of comfort on this houseboat. The location was very convenient, close to the city centre, yet far away enough from the tourist part. We'll be back again!     lovely ambiance - a special houseboat experience in Amsterdam.

    Juul's houseboat made our stay very special in Amsterdam. The location is very central + not in tourist crowd. There are nice local cafes and restaurants around. The houseboat was pretty clean. We hesitated in the beginning about heating if it can be cold in a houseboat but it has a very well working heating system in the floor, so it was very warm and comfortable. Living room area is big enough to chill in the evening. If you are staying in the city more than couple of days, you might like to stay at home and some wine with friends. It has a lovely ambiance also in the evening with other houseboats in the canal and light reflections on the water. So I would highly recommend this houseboat. Even my friends -who insisted to have the comfort of a hotel- were pretty happy with our choice.!

    Wonderful week in Amsterdam

    Our family of 4 just returned from a week's stay on the Babeth. We had a great time and found the houseboat to be much more preferable than a hotel. The beds were comfortable and we all loved the modern feel of the boat. The bath was especially nice. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby the houseboat and a market very close by if you choose to stay in and cook in the well appointed kitchen. Trams are conveniently nearby and getting around the city was easy. The boat was comfortable and cozy and we had lots of geese visiting us at the windows. There was a nesting mom goose in the floating garden and we were hoping her 2 eggs would hatch while we were there, but maybe the next guest will be able to see the babies. We also had the opportunity to experience King's Day in Amsterdam and had a couple of boats from the boat parade on our canal. We had a great time and would stay again if we ever have the opportunity to visit Amsterdam again.

    Very pleasant and very good value

    The houseboat was very well fitted out in a central location ,that made us feel the houseboat itself was a great place to be on vacation every time we came back to it, even resting on it during the day the location is so special, the hosts were perfect and help with any requests we had.

    Fantastic boat, fantastic location, hosts

    You won't regret booking this boat. It's a well appointed, good-sized house with plenty of head and leg room in a great location. The host, Juul is very welcoming - giving plenty of useful location information - as well as effortlessly accommodating an early check in and check out. Our family of four had a great visit to Amsterdam and staying in Babeth was a big part of the experience.
