We would like to welcome you on board for a unique stay in the captain's cabin of our historic ship De Hoop. Once an active cargo boat that transported goods and supplies along the Dutch waterways, De Hoop is currently enjoying her well deserved retirement and one hundredth birthday this year, in IJburg, Amsterdam's newest neighbourhood.
De Hoop is perfectly located for those who wish to experience the best of both worlds. During your stay, you’ll wake up with the serenity of the water, whilst also being just a 15 min tram ride from Amsterdam city centre, with its windy canals and huge range of cultural activities. There are also plenty of nature walks to take within the neighbourhood, in case you prefer to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Private, authentic and charming captain's cabin with a queen sized bed (140x200) and storage for luggage and clothes.
A new bathroom with shower, toilet, sink, shampoo, hairdryer & bath robes. A living room with dining table for 2, sofa, TV (including Netflix), Bose music speaker, board games and small kitchen area with fridge, coffee machine & kettle (no cooking station). Authentic captains hut with bench and beautiful view. Please note that the studio is 25m2 and ceiling about 2m high.
You can jump off the boat for a swim or take a walk along the water to IJburg beach which is just 2km away. The city centre is just a 15 min tram ride away from our ship.
Good to knows
Please note that the ship is not suitable for children of any age.
Please take into consideration that the boat needs to be entered via stairs and narrow gangway.
Depending on the weather and the wind situation, the boat can rock a little including the sound of some characteristic sounds.
We as owners live on the same boat, but in a separate space with separate entrance, staying at this accommodation will be with complete privacy.

How to get there
Our boat is located in the safe and family friendly neighbourhood called IJburg. From Amsterdam Central Station you take tram 26 and you will be taken to IJburg in 15 minutes after which it is just a few minutes walk to our houseboat.
If you're travelling by car, IJburg is located a few minutes drive from the A10 Amsterdam ring road, which interconnects with a number of other major highways that can bring you to the boat from various directions across the Netherlands or beyond. You can park for €7.50 per day in a parking garage of the local supermarket, which is a five-minute walk from the boat. On the street you have to pay to park from Monday to Saturday from 9am to 7pm. Parking costs € 3.50 per hour. On Sundays, street parking in the area is free. There are also charging stations for electric cars in the area.
From Schiphol Airport, it will takes 45-50 minutes to reach the boat by train and tram which costs €6.50 each way. By car it will take you depending on the traffic between 20-25 minutes.
About the area
IJburg is a charming, safe and mostly residential neighbourhood which is especially popular for those who enjoy modern architecture and urban design. It's also a perfect location for water sports enthusiasts with options for kayaking, hiking, cycling, windsurfing and paddle boarding amongst others. The area offers a range of cafes, restaurants and bars for those looking for somewhere to enjoy a quiet drink.
During the summer there are two small local beaches including a beach club to enjoy in the summer months, as well as several nature spots where you can walk or cycle and take in the scenery.

What you see is what you get - real nice and cozy housboat
Lydia and Uhuru are real super hosts, we felt very welcome and enjoyed our short stay on De Hoop. The accommodation is clean and cozy in a quiet outskirt of Amsterdam, with the train you get to central station in 15 minutes and the train station is only 5 minutes away. We really loved the bunk(bed) and slept like babies, in the morning Uhuru served us breakfast with cappuccino and orange juice. When the weather is fine you can even have breakfast outside on the lovely captains terrace. The bathroom contains a shower, a washbasin and a toilet, all clean and in a good shape. TV and internet is also included if you want to relax on the sofa in the evening. Even when we were not on the boat we could leave the door open since the pier is locked and save. We can warmly recommend this accommodation and would stay again on De Hoop. Tanja and Andreas from Germany!

Maximum space in Best Location
De Hoop is an easy tram-ride to a quiet suburb. Right next to grocery stores.
On board, more space than a conventional hotel room!

Great stay, really enjoyed it!
The owners were very polite and also showed us their private rooms they had on the boot which looked fantastic.
The boat and our cabin itself also were in a great condition and well prepared for our arrival. Everything was clean and fantastic. We really enjoyed it and only can recommend staying here.

The hosts were super, attentive, clean, it couldn't be better! The furnishing is comfortable, tasteful, everything is coordinated. The holiday (unfortunately only 2 nights) fantastic. Amsterdam by bike in 25 minutes. The village site very nice and clean. You have to come back! They also tried very hard to communicate, since unfortunately we speak very poor English. It was absolutely no problem. The breakfast was also a poem and made with a lot of love. Claudia and Uwe

We stayed for four nights at the houseboat „de hoop“ and it was wonderful. The boat was very very clean and nicely decorated. Ijburg is a quiet and beautiful place to stay and relax.
I highly recommend it. We‘ll be back.
