This is the place for people who like to travel in style. Your host renovated this spacious, fully private floating apartment on his houseboat in style. High ceilings, a warm and characteristic living room with open kitchen on the second floor, two large bedrooms and a luxurious bathroom with rain shower. Not to mention the great garden with sauna, BBQ and of course the option to swim in the canal. Perfect for two couples and families with kids.
Your host Rob is a true 'waterman'. He has worked as a ship constructor for decades and put all his love into the dream that he just realized: building the perfect houseboat and welcome guests from all over the world. Rob lives on a separate part of the very well insulated houseboat, so you have all the privacy you can possibly ask for. The boat has central heating in every room so you are sure to be comfortably warm all year round, even on the coldest winter days.
You can feel the love for detail when you walk through the Floating Castle. It has a all the amenities and convenience of a high-end apartment, with the big difference that you will experience the excitement of staying on the water. Especially because all the rooms on both floors have water view, creating a very light and bright atmosphere. The Queen size beds are really comfortable, ensuring a great night rest.
A truly unique feature is the huge amount of outdoor space that this floating castle has to offer. In the garden you will find a cozy table to have a nice drink or smoke, or enjoy breakfast or diner (why not organize a nice BBQ?!) during the summer time. The sauna is available all year round - especially during the winter it is really awesome to dive into the cold water after a sauna session. Highly recommended!
The location is perfect for guests who want to be away from the tourist masses, yet be close to the city centre. It takes you just a few minutes to get to the Amsterdam Tower (a must-visit), Film Museum Eye (amazing lunch served here, and what a view over the water!) and the free ferry that takes you to Amsterdam Central Station 24/7 for free. On request your host can take you on a guided tour by boat - yes, he is a true captain!
There are 2 free bikes available, on request the host can arrange more bikes for you so you can get around easily from the moment you arrive. And another good thing to know is that you are very close to the wide open fields North of Amsterdam, absolutely great to make a nice bike tour to natural park 'Het Twiske' or Zaanstad with the famous windmills.
About Amsterdam North, where the boat is located. This is may be less known then the inner city, but it is without a doubt the most buzzing part of Amsterdam. It offers a great variety of artistic places such as the NDSM Wharf, Pllek and Tolhuistuin with its countless festivals, markets, concerts and other great activities all year round. Furthermore you have to visit the Amsterdam Tower (with the exciting swing on the roof - amazing views over the whole city) and lunch at the water side terrace of the Eye Film Museum. Take the free ferry and you are in the city centre within minutes. So we dare to say that we offer the best of both worlds: Amsterdam at its best!
Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions - always glad to help. Look forward to welcome you aboard!

Great experience on a Amsterdam houseboat
We have been so fortunate to be one of the first guests of Robs houseboat. It is truly a floating castle, with lots of space and light thanks to the high ceilings. We stayed here with two couples and loved the huge amount of privacy and outdoor space. Using the sauna on a cold December day was really special. The boat is located on a quiet canal in Amsterdam Noord, a fast changing area with interesting restaurants (cafe Modern! The best Dutch restaurant I ever visited!) and bars. The free ferry is about 4 minutes by bike away and takes you straight into town right away. It is not a downtown houseboat, but that is exactly what we liked: lots of privacy, great beds, lots of space and yet the city centre is within 10 minutes distance. Highly recommended for those who want to have a special experience. And before I forget: Rob is a great host with a good taste when it comes to interior design!

A wonderful way to experience Amsterdam
We really enjoyed or stay at Rob and Agnes's houseboat. It is quiet, peaceful and spacious. Rob supplied us with bikes, and we spent the days exploring the the streets and canals of Amsterdam on bicycles, highly recommended.
The houseboat has a homely feel to it, and we enjoyed preparing food and relaxing on the houseboat as well as dining out.
Food markets, restaurants and takeaway are just a 5 minute bike ride away, and so is the ferry that will take you straight to Amsterdam central station.
We will absolutely recommend staying at Rob's houseboat, and will probably do so the next time we are in Amsterdam.

Peace in the city
Just wanted to say thank you to rob and his friends for a wonderful stay on his house boat. Just a 10min walk from the ferry it offered the perfect base from which to explore the city but a peaceful haven in which to escape. Facilities are good and the beds comfortable. It may not suit people with poor mobility as the stairs are quite steep but for everyone else it’s a great option. Thank you

Lovely stay in Amsterdam
We loved rob and agnes’ houseboat and had a wonderful stay in Amsterdam. The houseboat is charming and well equipped and the fact that we could jump out of the window and swim in the canal was amazing. Agnes was so helpful during our stay and we borrowed bikes from the family which was amazing for getting to the centre and exploring the countryside. The location is excellent, really easy to get to the centre via the free ferry and also close to the beautiful countryside north of the city. The only issues we had were that building work opposite the house boat started very early and was really loud which woke us up in the morning. We also suffered from mosquito bites at nighttime. These aren’t things that Rob and Agnes could control but did affect our stay slightly. Overall we would absolutely recomend this beautiful place to anyone and thanks to the family for being so welcoming and kind.
