Houseboat description

Imagine having an unforgettable stay in a houseboat on one of the most beautiful canals right in the most popular area of Amsterdam, THE JORDAAN. You will find most points of interest within walking distance, and there is an abundance of small pubs, cafés, and cozy restaurants for you to enjoy your breakfast, lunch, or dinner all around the houseboat.

Experience the Water

If you are looking for a special holiday, you will not find a better location to experience staying on a houseboat. The connection with the water and the animals floating past your window while sitting on your private deck. Swans and ducks begging for a scrap of bread and all kinds of small boats passing by with people enjoying a leisurely boat ride. It's the ultimate way to enjoy the best Amsterdam has to offer on the water.

About the Studio

Now something more about the place itself. The studio offers all the privacy you want, and you don't need to share any space, only the front door, with me. In the studio, you will find a very comfortable double bed from where you have a water view. Furthermore, there is enough closet space and a fan to ensure a cool breeze during hot summer days. The wide windows with sliding doors let in lots of light and give access to a small waterside terrace. A wonderful place to just sit back and relax while the always-changing city views pass by. Now you will feel truly like a real 'Amsterdammer'.

Bathroom Amenities

In the private bathroom, you will find a walk-in shower, sink, and toilet.

I hope to have given you the best impression possible and look forward to welcoming you aboard!

About the area

Location! Location! Location! That's most important where you are, well the Gaiforce One Houseboat is situated in just about the best and nicest location in Amsterdam. In the very heart of the 18th century old city-centre. If you look outside you have the feeling you find yourself in a 18th century oil painting. All around you there are 3 to 400 year old canal-houses and warehouses. It can't get better than that! It's amazing!

The houseboat is located on the canal-belt in THE JORDAAN, which used to be the poorest area of Amsterdam in the olden days, but is now the most trendy and favoured area by locals and tourists. There is a maze of narrow streets, with many lovely restaurants, pubs and quaint shops. On almost every corner you will find an café with an outdoor terrace, where you can enjoy a drink while watching the hustle and bustle of life on the canals.

In the 17th/18th century Amsterdam was a thriving trading post where ships brought their ware from all over the world to be stored in the warehouses of The Brouwersgracht. These warehouses you still see today and from your window! when staying on The Guest-Houseboat, these are now converted into very popular luxury and trendy loft apartments, sought after by locals and ex-pats.

Apart from the beauty of the area, the houseboat is ideally located for your visits to many of the important sights and a mere 10 minutes walk from the Central Station, would you want to travel outside of Amsterdam to for instance, The Hague (40 minutes by train), Haarlem (15 minutes), Rotterdam(50 minutes) or the airport ( 15 minutes) even the beach is just 20 minutes by train.

So you see... LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION!!!

    Perfect Show original

The houseboat is very well located, not far from the city center and very quiet. The accommodation is very clean and very functional. The small terrace is very appreciable. Patricia is a very considerate host both by her emails and by what is provided in the accommodation (tea, coffee...). We spent 3 very pleasant days. I highly recommend.

    Absolutely amazing!

Every single aspect of this place was amazing. The owner was so nice and communicative - check-in was a breeze. But the place, oh the place. Extremely nice, comfortable and clean. The location couldn't be more ideal (a short walk from the train station, near great restaurants), and the porch can't be beaten. It was so wonderful to sit out there with a beer watching the swans and other boats go by. It's surprisingly not-boaty: it doesn't rock or move, it's not cold or damp. It's like you're staying in your own private luxury hotel room in the heart of Amsterdam. I cannot wait to come back!

    Beautiful houseboat

Great communication from the host. Very clear instructions. Safe location and off the path enough to not be bothered by rowdy locals. Comfortable bed and great view. Would visit again 100%.

Boat was lovely, great location, great area for being close to centre and fantastic for the Saturday markets. Loved the visits from ducks and swans in the morning. Would definitely choose the boathouse rather than a hotel in the future.

Live like a local on the water

Patricia's houseboat is conveniently located and we were able to walk to all the Amsterdam attractions we were interested in especially the fabulous Rijksmuseum. Like most European capitals space in this city is at a premium and accommodation expensive. Houseboats are the same but allow a brief pleasant experience of canal life. The deck is tiny but just enough space for 2 to carefully squeeze onto with a drink and not fall in ( until after the drink ) Passing boats generally give a wave. With a few minor tweaks this houseboat could be better as we did have issues with rubbish, cleanliness, a small bar fridge barely cooling drinks and a TV that didn’t work for us but with these fixed a pleasant stay is assured. It should be noted that there is no A/C on this boat just a fan over the bed and with summer warming up and all glass facing west we suspect it could get a little uncomfortable in high summer temperatures for older guests.
