How to get there
From Schiphol Airport you'll need 20 minutes by taxi, or 45 minutes by train via Central Station and tram or bus to arrive at the Sachsen-Anhalt. From Central station it's a 10 minute bus ride that stops 100 meters away from our ship.
If you arrive by car, we have a special parking solution since you will most probably not use your car in Amsterdam.
About the area
Here in the Eastern Docklands you'll find a combination of space and cosyness. The area was laid out at a scale for the enormous ships traveling to the Dutch East Indies, so you'll feel the most space possible in Amsterdam. Since the docklands were rebuilt as a housing area there's a café in both directions on the south facing quay within 200 meters, next to a bakery, some restaurants, interior- and bookshops, supermarkets and a park. Enough facilities for breakfast, you could even stay the day for a trip through the old harbours and modern architecture.
Houseboat owner
Ingeborg
Hello traveller,
I am a freelancer writing about the newest and finest in architecture and design and jury member of the Dutch Design Awards. My husband Renze is a pilot, although his heart goes out to a his former job, navigating the seas. Our houseboat unites our fascinations: the passenger ship Sachsen-Anhalt that used to make day trips from the German town Magdeburg is renovated into a modern house on the water.
