Welcome to your stay

Welcome aboard The Jordaan Wheelhouse. This is a two bedroom apartment on a historic freight ship. From the wheelhouse you have a panoramic view over the wonderful canals of Amsterdam.

Explore your stay

The B&B is located in the heart of the Jordaan, at the corner of the Prinsengracht. The Jordaan is a very nice neighbourhood in the city centre close to the Anne Frank House, the famous Nine Streets and approximately a 10/15 minutes walk from Amsterdam Central Station. Close to metro, bus and trams. In the Jordaan you will find a lot of charming restaurants, boutique shops and markets.

But first let's take a look at the houseboat apartment that you may call your floating home in Amsterdam for a while. The big wheelhouse - with the original wheel still there - is without a doubt a unique and super cozy place to sit back and relax, while the buzzing city life passes by. Have a first cup of coffee and watch the swans, ducks and geese pass by. There are two tables, two chairs and a lounge sofa for ultimate relaxation. In the wheelhouse you have access to a small fridge, coffee maker, cooker and a micro-wave. Note that we don't have a kitchen, but who would seriously consider cooking when you have such an abundance of restaurants around?

In the hull of the ship we offer two charming bedrooms, each with a high-quality double bed. This makes the boat perfect for small families and couples traveling together. Each bedroom has a personal character and is shaped in a unique and charming way, with several nautical elements such as the traditional portholes.

The tastefully decorated bathroom, with shower, sink and separate toilet, is conveniently situated between the two bedrooms.

Last but not least: know that the whole boat is well insulated and has comfortable central heating. This way you are ensured to be nice and warm, even on the coldest winter nights.

Please be aware that this is a boat, so the stairs will be quite steep.

I hope to have given you the best possible impression of our houseboat apartment in the city centre of Amsterdam, but don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions - always glad to help!

My name is Eliane . I am an enthusiastic and social woman who is eager to learn and always looking for a new challenge. When I was 18 years old, I went to live on this beautiful houseboat. And I started this bed and breakfast where you are now.
I have studied ‘Hotel and event management' at the TIO University in Amsterdam. The study fits exactly with the running of this bed and breakfast. And I do the study with a lot of fun. I do this bed and breakfast next to my study and I do it with pleasure. I hope that I can show you the way in Amsterdam.

Unforgettable Stay on a Houseboat in AmsterdamShow original

We enjoyed the magnificent view of the Amstel and of Amsterdam. Having to step over a first barge was not a problem for us. We occupied the half barge with the cabin. The rooms were comfortable as well as the bedding. We liked that there was a coffee maker and tea maker. Very nice experience. We did not like the presence of some litter from cans when we arrived on the pontoon.

Unique way to feel immersed in Amsterdam

We had a great visit on the houseboat! Travelled with our 5-year-old son, who loved having his own room under the couch. Views were incredible. Loved seeing the constant boat traffic and spending time out on the back deck. The boat is slightly rustic without a lot of extra comforts, but the beds were cozy, and we had all we needed.

    Great location, ambience

We enjoyed our stay. Having stayed on a number of vessels around Amsterdam over the years, we were looking forward to staying in the area. The location didn’t disappoint. Overall, the vessel was cozy, if in need of a little more thought for visitors (places to hang coats, towels) and cleanliness. For the cost and location it’s definitely worth a visit.

    Fun and Memorable

Our family stayed in this cute houseboat for a few nights at the tail end of a 10 day trip around the Netherlands. It was such a fun experience - we LOVED the location - quiet at night but right near everything - the train station, the main areas we wanted to explore, everything. My daughters loved the "hidden" bedroom and it was surprisingly spacious enough for all of us. Our favorite part was sitting on the boat deck, enjoying the sunset with a glass of wine, and watching all the action on the canals and roads nearby. The bathroom/shower area is a bit tight and not very private, but worked just fine for our family. The only other small issue (not a big deal) was that the boat has a second apartment on it where the owners live, and it was very easy to hear them (and I assume for them to hear us) so it felt a little awkward sometimes, but a white noise app on our phone at night solved it. Would definitely recommend for a completely fun and memorable Amsterdam experience.

    Great experienceShow original

We had a lovely stay in the small houseboat with lots of character. It was really clean and the location in the second row was perfect, so you weren't right on the street. The beds were very comfortable. It's obviously more for younger people, as the boat has very steep stairs etc. - that didn't bother us at all. The check-in option with the key box is also great. The kitchen had everything you need. And the bathroom situation is very easy to manage if you get used to it! Eliane was super quick to respond to questions! Thank you :)
