Welcome aboard The Jordaan Wheelhouse. This is a two bedroom apartment on a historic freight ship. From the wheelhouse you have a panoramic view over the wonderful canals of Amsterdam.

The B&B is located in the heart of the Jordaan, at the corner of the Prinsengracht. The Jordaan is a very nice neighbourhood in the city centre close to the Anne Frank House, the famous Nine Streets and approximately a 10/15 minutes walk from Amsterdam Central Station. Close to metro, bus and trams. In the Jordaan you will find a lot of charming restaurants, boutique shops and markets.

But first let's take a look at the houseboat apartment that you may call your floating home in Amsterdam for a while. The big wheelhouse - with the original wheel still there - is without a doubt a unique and super cozy place to sit back and relax, while the buzzing city life passes by. Have a first cup of coffee and watch the swans, ducks and geese pass by. There are two tables, two chairs and a lounge sofa for ultimate relaxation. In the wheelhouse you have access to a small fridge, coffee maker, cooker and a micro-wave. Note that we don't have a kitchen, but who would seriously consider cooking when you have such an abundance of restaurants around?

In the hull of the ship we offer two charming bedrooms, each with a high-quality double bed. This makes the boat perfect for small families and couples traveling together. Each bedroom has a personal character and is shaped in a unique and charming way, with several nautical elements such as the traditional portholes.

The tastefully decorated bathroom, with shower, sink and separate toilet, is conveniently situated between the two bedrooms.

Last but not least: know that the whole boat is well insulated and has comfortable central heating. This way you are ensured to be nice and warm, even on the coldest winter nights.

Please be aware that this is a boat, so the stairs will be quite steep.

Location, Location, Location

The accommodations were adequate. If you’re thinking hotel-type services, where rooms are cleaned daily, think not. This is a houseboat. All we needed was a bed to sleep and a bath to do your business. Nespresso coffee and a microwave were all we needed. The main attraction for this houseboat was the location. The boat was parked in the middle of everything. In fact, when we arrived, there was a market selling cheese, bread, fish, waffles, etc., steps away from our boat. We had a fun, exciting first time staying on the Jordaan Houseboat. Thank you, Elaine, for being responsive to my inquiries. Give my regards to the houseboat. She treated us well!

Perfect location and nice little ship Show original

The location is simply perfect. You step out the door and you're right in the middle of town. The boat itself was renovated a while ago. It's clean and tidy. The mattress could be a bit thicker. The bench upstairs could use a softer backrest. That would make sitting even more comfortable while watching the hustle and bustle of the city with a glass of wine. 🙂 Otherwise, be careful not to drink too much wine, or you'll fall down the steep stairs. 😁 Overall, a fantastic vacation in a beautiful city. We'd love to come back.

Amazing location, unique memories!

We stayed at the Jordaan Wheelhouse for five days over the New Year’s Eve holiday period with our two tween kids and we loved it! The boat is really stylish and comfortable inside and also really warm even in near freezing temperatures. We have great memories of staying in this unique place, playing cards on the upper deck or having a New Years drink on the bow. The kids loved their cabin below deck too. The boathouse is in the best location, close to restaurants, cafes, the Haarlemmerstraat area and shops and supermarkets. We recommend the yummy Indonesian food at cafe Tabac just over the road, and hope to come back to enjoy more of this great neighborhood.

Amazing location
