The Brouwersgracht has been chosen more then once to be the most beautiful canal in Amsterdam. 2 minutes away you will find: the Haarlemmerstraat and its extension, the Haarlemmerdijk - is a gem!
Offering independent boutiques and specialty stores, little salons, trendy but affordable restaurants and bars and the oldest cinema in Amsterdam, this area will certainly appeal to the most jaded of world-travelers.
You are guaranteed to find a special little gift from Amsterdam in this alternative shopping district. And with a constant passing parade along the Haarlemmerstraat, you can spend a very entertaining afternoon just watching the world go by.
The houseboat is located in the very heart of the historical Jordaan. Originally a working-class neighborhood, the Jordaan has become one of the most expensive, upscale locations in the Netherlands. It is home to many art galleries, particularly for modern art, and is also dotted with specialty shops and restaurants.
Markets are held regularly at Noordermarkt, the Westerstraat (the Lapjesmarkt a textile market) and Lindengracht.
Rembrandt spent the last years of his life in the Jordaan, on the Rozengracht canal. He is buried in the Westerkerk church, at the corner of Rozengracht and Prinsengracht, in walking distance from our boat.
The Anne Frank House is also located nearby, on the Prinsengracht canal.
Houseboat description
Entering this boat you find yourself in the kitchen area overlooking the historic canals of Amsterdam. Cooking the perfect pasta or drink the best coffee can be done in this fully equipped kitchen watching the ducks swim by. In the middle of the boat you find a dining table, comfortable couch, music stereo and Kingsize bed. Behind the bed is a large bath tub with shower and a separate toilet. On board are flatscreen TV with DVD player, HBO movie channels, dishwash machine, and also fresh towels and bed linen are included.
It all makes you never want to go home again.
