Houseboat summary

The Brouwersgracht has been chosen more then once to be the most beautiful canal in Amsterdam. 2 minutes away you will find: the Haarlemmerstraat and its extension, the Haarlemmerdijk - is a gem!

Offering independent boutiques and specialty stores, little salons, trendy but affordable restaurants and bars and the oldest cinema in Amsterdam, this area will certainly appeal to the most jaded of world-travelers.

You are guaranteed to find a special little gift from Amsterdam in this alternative shopping district. And with a constant passing parade along the Haarlemmerstraat, you can spend a very entertaining afternoon just watching the world go by.

The houseboat is located in the very heart of the historical Jordaan. Originally a working-class neighborhood, the Jordaan has become one of the most expensive, upscale locations in the Netherlands. It is home to many art galleries, particularly for modern art, and is also dotted with specialty shops and restaurants.

Markets are held regularly at Noordermarkt, the Westerstraat (the Lapjesmarkt a textile market) and Lindengracht.

Rembrandt spent the last years of his life in the Jordaan, on the Rozengracht canal. He is buried in the Westerkerk church, at the corner of Rozengracht and Prinsengracht, in walking distance from our boat.
The Anne Frank House is also located nearby, on the Prinsengracht canal.

    Amsterdam accommodations at its finest

We had a warm welcome from Dido and loved the entire stay. The house boat stay was the highlight of our trip to Amsterdam. We were able to sit on the canal side and watch the boats go by and wave at all of the tourists. It was the perfect location to many markets and coffee shops and super central within walking distance to pretty much everything. The boat was clean and fresh and had every amenity. Thank you Claire for a fabulous stay!!

My first stay in Amsterdam, whit my son and on a houseboat. The boat was beautiful, and there was everything we needed. Also some welcome gifts, some cookies and a very cold beer, its was great. The owner Gwen was very helpful with what ever we ask for. The bed and the blankets was very good, we sleep as babys. The houseboat was near everything, so we could walk to all the things we would see. After a day walking, its was great to take a long warm bath in the bathtub. The kitchen had all we needed, and we was very glad for the coffee machine. the weather was great sun and 18 degrees so we opened the door to the kanals and sad in the doorway and just enjoy life.  Amazing.

I will come back to Amsterdam on  holiday and on this houseboat again

    Great Location, Nice Place

As the name implies, The Heart of Jordan is well located in this part of Amsterdam. There are many nearby shops, places to eat and even a few coffee shops. One can walk along the Brouwersgracht straight into the center of the city.

A tram stop is about three blocks away, making a day pass a good investment as you can easily travel all around Amsterdam on the tram system

Claire and Gwen were very helpful. Gwen met us at the boat when we arrived and again when we checked out. They are easy to contact via phone and were very helpful when we had questions. The boat has space for three and a handy kitchen. It was easy for us to shop at nearby markets and fix meals back on the houseboat. It is clean, neat and the Jacuzzi tub is quite nice.

A bonus is being able to watch all the other canal traffic. Lots of different boats and interesting people watching.

A houseboat stay in this city is a great idea.

I hope this one is available the next time we visit Amsterdam.
