Vermeer - Super Central Houseboat

Casper is a nice guy. This houseboat is quite spacious (for a boat) and location is really great. Not a great water view (the boats next are a bit shappy).

We enjoyed a sunny Easter weekend in Amsterdam. Casper was very flexible as we had to change our trip so many times due to Covid. The boat is within walking distance of Central Station. We were also able to find many nice cafes and restaurants in the area. It was fun staying on a boat. The ladder down into the boat is very steep and I worried this could be a problem for my dad but he managed very well.

We really enjoyed our stay on the boat - booking and checking in was very easy - Casper was there to greet us and explained everything we needed. 

The best thing about the boat is the location - everything is in easy walking distance - centraal station, the old town centre, the zoo and the museums - which was very useful as we had two children with us. It is also surprisingly quiet given how central the location is. 

The boat itself was well heated, with good cooking and toilet facilities. We didn’t have WiFi but Casper did offer to come and install a booster which we didn’t bother with in the end as we were out most of the time. It might’ve been nice to have a sofa to sit on but this was a small issue as the dining table was great to sit round as a family, and Nina and Casper very kindly left some tea/coffee/ basic supplies for us to use. 

We had to be careful getting on and off the boat with young children but we expected this and it really wasn’t a problem. 

Overall, a great place to stay in what turned out to be a very child friendly city. Thanks! 

Casper is a very welcoming and friendly host who cares about his guests. The space and especially the living room are very pleasant. The kitchen equipment is complete and allows you to cook, which is very appreciable after long days of walking. Also, the wifi works very well.

The location of the barge is perfect for those arriving by train (15 minutes walk) and close to a supermarket. Access to the city center is quick. However, the high price of this rental would let hope for a little more services such as soap in the bathrooms, tissues, a hair dryer per room, a vacuum cleaner, etc.

Moreover, even if the owner apologized when we arrived, we suffered a leak from the skylight above the sink and the hob, which caused some inconvenience.

My parents, husband, and I had a lovely stay at Super Central Houseboat Vermeer. Perfect location, comfortable and quiet boat, all the amenities needed for four adults. Stairs going down were very steep but that's to be expected. Missed having a couch but the kitchen table was a fine substitute. There was also a very heavy rainstorm that went through and two of the skylights in the main room leaked a little onto the floor, but it wasn't anything major. I would definitely consider staying again next time I'm in Amsterdam!
