Houseboat summary

Live on a real houseboat in Amsterdam. Enjoy views through portholes, from decks, on beautiful bridges. A beautiful kitchen, 360 degree overlooking water. Beautiful location. From sunrise to sunset spacious sun and plenty of shade.

Once a barge, build in 1930, now a great place to enjoy your short or longer stay in Amsterdam. The level of comfort is just as you may expect in a high-end apartment, yet you’re floating in the wide open waters of the Amsterdam Eastern Docks.

This is without a doubt one of the most popular areas for people who want to live close to the city, yet like the tranquility, space and amazing architecture of this unique neighborhood. The views from the boat alone are just amazing. When the temperature is right, you can easily jump into the water as we ourselves do, and enjoy the coolness of real authentic, great swimming-water.

We live ourselves throughout the year and rent it from time to time. We would love to welcome you on our ship, the Janna.

Hope to see you soon, Tibor, Max and Isa

About the area

The Eastern Docklands are located in the east of the city, right near the central station and the old town center. It is the old port of Amsterdam where coffee and spices were landed by ship. Some of these ships have been converted into houseboats.

In addition, the Eastern Docklands area is known for its modern architecture. It's part of the transformation of a former industrial harbor into a modern residential area. Many renowned architects have left their mark on this unique and diverse residential zone. Water on all sides and many houseboats keep the feeling of an active harbor alive.

Our Houseboat is near many attractions within the city and has shops, restaurants and nightlife options nearby. It is a quiet neighborhood, 10 minutes by tram to the center.

Tibor

We ourselves live on the boat. Me, my husband Tibor and our kids. We would really like to share the wonderful feeling of staying on a real houseboat. Eventhough it's just for a short time. We live in Amsterdam since 1999, almost 18 years now. We're travellars ourselves and with our kids we would like to see as much of the world as we can. Therefore we rent the boat from time to time. My husband is a teacher at a primary school, I work as a logistics manager for an energycompany. Hope to see you soon. During your stay, we will not be in the boat, you'll have it all to yourselves.

Kind regards, Tibor and Saskia and of course, Max and Isa.

    Perfect family boat !

I just spent a week end in "Wonderful Houseboat Janna" and it lives up to its name. It is very spacious and absolutely clean. The back beck is the best breakfast spot in the city. Tibor is welcoming and helpful host. We all loved it. Thanks again. t

The only way to enjoy Amsterdam from now on

We had an amazing vacation on the house boat! It was exactly as described in the listing. This will be the only way we enjoy Amsterdam from now on. We were far enough away from the tourist part of Amsterdam to enjoy a quiet, relaxing night. But we were close enough to walk or bike (or Uber) to Dam Square and the surrounding areas. There is a supermarket and some restaurants within walking distance of the house boat. The rooms were comfy and clean. The mornings and nights on the canal were quiet and beautiful. This is a great area of Amsterdam! Sas was a great host! We had some welcome gifts when we arrived (which we thoroughly enjoyed)! There were some helpful guides, maps, and tourist information left for us as well. Sas kept in touch the whole time and made sure that we had a pleasant stay. I can't say enough great things about the house boat. We had some great memories during our stay and can't wait to come stay on the house boat again in the future.

Wonderful stay in a wonderful city

We so enjoyed our stay on this beautiful houseboat!  The Eastern Docklands is more of a local neighborhood rather than on the tourist path.  For our vacation it was peaceful and we saw how people live on the canals.  We were cold in August but the locals were swimming and rowing.  It is an easy walk from the tram and a nice walk from Central Station.  There are grocery stores and small restaurants in the neighborhood plus nice playgrounds. The best part of the boat for us was all the places to sit outside and we did use them.  The bath and kitchen were well equiped.  We slept so well because we love sleeping on water.   I must say the nicest part of the boat was the hosts. They were generous and friendly before and during the our trip.  We had a 10 day vacation and they made it easier to plan.
