Houseboat description

ENGLISH
This houseboat is an authentic barge built in 1928 that the owners restored to make it a cozy home. It is moored in Avignon, one of the finest cities in Southern France.

The Captain's bedroom is an independent 22 square meters bedroom. This room has a romantic atmosphere as it is decorated with noble materials such as wood and marble. Its two portholes offer you great views on the Rhône River. The room is equipped with a jetted shower and a toilet. Guests have access to the wheelhouse which a very nice place to have breakfast while enjoying the views on the Rhône river... Or it is possible to sit outside as this room comes with a private terrace! Finally, the cherry on top: on the sundeck, you will find a swimming pool. Perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring Avignon, don't you think?

The 'péniche' (French for 'houseboat') is moored at l'île de la Barthelasse, a remote and quiet part of Avignon though it is close to the city center. Avignon is a place of grandiosity: it has several monuments that are listed as World Heritage sites by UNESCO. The Avignon bridge, the palace of the popes, the cobble-stoned streets are iconic spots that you need to see to understand the medieval atmosphere of the city. Plus, every year in July, the city hosts a tremendous theatre festival.

Great houseboat - with love from Russia

An original apartment on a self-propelled barge with a touch of ship life, the pros and cons of a cabin. Kind owner, quiet place, decent breakfast, good internet.

Great house boat, superb location close to Avignon

This is the perfect place to stay if you’re looking for something a bit different. It’s an old boat but very well looked after and in a great location on the river not too far from Avignon. We loved waking up and having breakfast on the deck, we even managed to cook a meal in the kitchenette one evening to eat outside. Breakfast was delicious, you definitely won’t go hungry! We would also highly recommend the short walk to the restaurant along the river overlooking the pont d’Avignon which the hosts helpfully told us about when we arrived late one evening. Take bug spray if you plan on sitting outside in the evenings as it’s on the river, but the room is fine as it has one of those repelling plugs. Couldn’t recommend this place enough!

An excellent moment, very exotic Show original

Absolutely everything, welcome from our host, the presentation of the whole barge and the life of the sailors. The very good taste and the originality of the decoration of the 2 bedrooms also deserve to be mentioned. The breakfast is generous. An excellent moment, very exotic.
