Houseboat description

Our eco-designed House Boat was built on the Arcachon Bay, France, in 2023.

Located close to Epernay (6 km) and Reims (25 km), amenities and activities are accessible on foot, by bike, or by boat.

As you will discover, this House Boat is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable visit. It is located on the lateral canal of the Marne, in the heart of the Champagne region.

This House Boat has been designed to be almost self-sufficient in energy and water. It is thus totally powered by its solar panels, and the water is treated before and after its passage on the boat (excluding drinking water).

About the area

Mareuil-sur-Aÿ is a delegated commune of the new commune of Aÿ-Champagne, created on January 1, 2016. Located in the Marne department, in the Grand Est region, this new entity results from the merger of three former communes: Aÿ, Bisseuil, and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. These three localities are now delegated municipalities within Aÿ-Champagne.

The inhabitants of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ are called Marotiers. This village is located in the Marne valley, south of the Montagne de Reims, and extends from east to west along the Marne lateral canal.

The oldest part of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, located to the east, is built on the hillside and dominated by the statue of Notre-Dame du Gruguet, perched at around 130 meters above sea level.

North of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, the altitude increases towards the Montagne de Reims and Mutigny. This area is covered by the Champagne vineyard, a characteristic and important element of the region. The Marne, which flows south of the canal, forms loops to the west of the village.
