Houseboat summary

As a real captain (I do Amsterdam canal cruises for a living) there is only place I could live: on the water. Now that I moved from a 118 year old steel freight ship to a wonderful floating home, I love to share this experience with you. Therefore we warmly welcome you aboard our private two bedroom apartment with floating terrace in the charming village Krommenie. We live just 15 min. from Amsterdam, 10 min from the famous windmills of the Zaanse Schans and 20 minutes from the wonderful Beach of Wijk aan Zee.

And on request I can take you out for a tour with my wonderful Saloon Boat!

Houseboat description

You have access to your fully private two story apartment in our houseboat. The entrance leads to the large living room with open kitchen and dining table. The waterside window gives view over the canal. Please note that there will be a comfortable couch and chairs so you can sit back and relax in the living room. These were delivered just too late for the photo shoot!

From the living room you descend to the lower floor where you will find the two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a comfortable double bed and adjacent there is the second bedroom with a bunk-bed for the kids.

The bathroom is located on the top floor and offers a shower, toilet and sink.

On the side of the boat, at the end of the living room, there is a large sliding window, giving way to the floating private terrace. This is a wonderful place to sit back and relax. Have a drink and make plans for another great day. During the summer time you can swim in our canal, jump right in from the floating terrace!

If you want to visit Amsterdam, know that it is just a 15 minute car ride to the Park & Ride (parking here costs just 8 euro/day, much cheaper than parking on the street!). Or visit the world famous windmills of the Zaanse Schans, Zaanstad or the beach - all within 10 - 20 minutes from our houseboat.

Classic saloon boat

On request I can arrange a private cruise with the classic saloon boat: a great experience for sure. And for the kids we also offer a dinghy, free of charge (but at your own risk). Parking on our street is free. And if you like hiking and/or cycling, there are countless trails around our village to discover.

We warmly welcome families who want to have a relaxed holiday with  the option to visit Amsterdam and enjoy the country side and the cultural heritage that is found in and around our village. For example, Krommenie is famous for the 17th century architecture and the Dutch-refomed church, over 350 years old. On the edge of the village you can see one of the 42 fortifications that form the Defense Line of Amsterdam, dating back to the 19th century. Interesting history for sure!

I hope to have given you the best possible impression of what we have to offer. But don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions - always glad to help. And we look forward to welcome you aboard!

Was very nice and a very nice area outside of Amsterdam Show original

We (two older girls) were very satisfied with our accommodation, you just have to consider that you need about 50 minutes to get to the center of Amsterdam by bus and train and you can enjoy the rural impression. The boat is very comfortable, we only had to pay a little attention to the condition of the shower drain, that was our challenge, but we were rewarded with very nice and helpful landlords.

    Very nice Show original

We enjoyed our stay very much. The house is well equipped, is nice and quiet. Is easy to reach by train. We slept on the top floor because the kids were scared downstairs. We came with children up to 6 years old. One or the other place is a bit dangerous (the stairs and the double bed). The windows on the lower floor cannot be opened. The hosts are very friendly. We were very happy about the traditional pears 😋. Thanks very much!

Very nice houseboat apartment near Amsterdam

Thanks so much for your hospitality Willem, and thumbs up for creating such a nice place. We really enjoyed staying on your houseboat. We loved the peaceful atmosphere, the water birds and your lovely little village Krommenie. All the best from Berlin!

    Nice stay just outside Amsterdam

We had a very nice stay on the houseboat. The place was clean and we had all we needed. The beds were comfortable and the interior was cosy. Enjoyed sitting on the terrace in the evening watching boats pass by. Nearby are good shopping facilities for food and other stuff. I can only recommend a stay on this houseboat.

    Good base to visit Amsterdam!

Cosy houseboat/apartment. Great location to spend a weekend and visit the city. The heating on the lower level was a bit erratic, so it was cooler "downstairs" in the evenings, but the beds were very comfortable and snuggly leading to a great night's sleep! Only thing to be aware of is that the bedrooms are not well soundproofed. Apart from that, Willem and Farahnaz are lovely hosts and the communication with them was wonderful. Thank you so much!
