Houseboat description
Our canal boat is ideal for a couple, family or group of friends visiting London to see the city's most famous landmarks.
The canal boat offers a bright open-plan kitchen and lounge, full bathroom, spacious bedroom, double bed sofa and cot to sleep up to 4 adults and small child.
The boat's stern has a comfortable deck allowing for early sunrise breakfasts or relaxing dinners under the stars - or lets guests have a relaxing cup of tea whilst watching towpath pedestrians or ducks feeding in the canal.
Full of historical character, the boat was recently carefully renovated to retain original period features including the oak wood, brass fixtures and ceramic tiling - notably in the kitchen and bathroom.
This canal boat was originally built in Sheffield but spent many of years of service in the branches of the Oxford canal before making its way down to central London.
A few considerations for your (more eco-conscious) stay on a canal boat:
- Constant cruising - The canal boat moors on Grand Union canal and the route to her exact location along the easy-to-access towpath will be provided after booking
- Traditional burning stove - for cool London evenings we offer wood or coal to keep you cosy in the boat or you can use our energy-efficient ethanol heater
- Power Bank accelerator - the canal boat runs on solar power so excellent power banks are on standby to help charge phones, laptops and an energy-efficient refrigerator. Note like most canal boats ours was not originally designed to run hair dryers, irons and other electricity-hungry appliances and devices.
- Recycling - a standard easy-to-use waste unit found in most moving recreational vehicles won’t compromise your comfort during your stay
You may find staying on our canal boat a more interesting and unusual experience than your standard hotel or apartment - and our boat has what you need for a memorable break in central London.
Guest access
Guests have full access to the whole canal boat. Although the boat is moored for the duration of your stay, we might be able to offer a short tour down the famous Grand Union canal depending on host availability.

About the area
Little Venice, with its beautiful canals and waterways, can be found just to the north of Paddington. Positioned where the Grand Union and Regent’s canals meet, this picturesque neighbourhood is home to quirky waterside cafes, cosy pubs and charming restaurants. From canal boat rides to puppet shows, there are plenty of things to do in this charming London area.
Things to do in Little Venice Explore atmospheric Regent’s Canal, which starts from Little Venice and ends in the Docklands, passing the likes of ZSL London Zoo and Camden Town. Walk downstream past the elegant Regency streets of Maida Vale and on to Regent’s Park and Camden, or follow this peaceful corridor upstream to the west and enjoy the tranquility of the canals.
Little Venice also boasts some of the most interesting independent theatre venues in London. For free entertainment in the summer months, head to nearby Sheldon Square’s amphitheatre which puts on a series of events.
Sports fans should pay a visit to the Lord’s Cricket Ground, a little further along the waterway. Here, there’s the chance to learn about the history of cricket during a tour of the famous ground and its museum. Food and drink in Little Venice Whether you’re looking for a relaxing spot by the canal or a traditional pub, you’ll find the perfect stop-off at one of Little Venice’s best cafes and restaurants.
Treat yourself to fresh seafood and fabulous views at The Summerhouse, an elegant canal-side restaurant; or soak in the sun on The Waterway’s wide terrace.
